How do you keep up with all the shows? (52)

1 Name: Densha Otoko!SGRPrwhmGE 2005-08-06 01:47 ID:4KzjydTs

I like watching anime as much as the next guy on this bbs, however since I have a job and other interests I am increasingly finding it hard to keep up with new shows. For example Bleach, I think I am up to episode 26. Yakitate Japan I am also struggling to keep up with. New shows I want to watch, Eureka 7, Trinity Blood and Speed Grapher I just have no time to download and watch at all!

I also have DVDs of FLCL to watch and I haven't even started on them :(

Have you guys ever been in this situation, and do you have any suggestions for keeping up with anime?

2 Name: MJP 2005-08-06 03:14 ID:Heaven

I have the same situation, basically. I have a full-time job, I go to the gym, I hang out with my girlfriend, etc. I'm a bit behind on GSG vol. 2 and a bunch of manga I just picked up.

My suggestion: two episodes or two manga per day. Keep that steady pace and you'll find yourself back up to speed in no time.

Now if only I could stop the throttling of BT bandwidth on my Internets, I could be at the bleeding edge again... >_<

Girlfriends! Jobs! You guys have quite some nerve!

The solution is a to develop a finely tuned sense of snobbery, so that you reject most shows outright, preferrably without having even seen them. This cuts down on viewing time a lot!

I notice, it's got trackbacks and comments about 5 times longer than the article itself.

Trust 2channelers to twist that into one of their anti-支那 objects...

as for the topic, I do what Waha does as well, just ignore most shows which I can easily streotype as thigns I hate, if it' sreally that good then I'll hear about it and see. Most anime is not worth watching really, all that moe shit and all.

easy just get all the dvds you can from the respective companys at once, much like people can get dvds from say adv/bandai/funimation months before they reach the shops, since said people are loved

then watch them

Not so easy. I think having the money to buy them, and having the time to watch them all might be part of the problem.

Money, you know, that thing that pays bills and living costs? I need a job for that, and that takes time. I've also got a social life to maintain . That all takes time. ;)

30 Name: Random Anime Otaku 2005-11-18 01:52 ID:He28fKPG

I bring my laptop with me and watch an episode or two when I get a chance.

31 Name: Random Anime Otaku 2005-11-19 04:23 ID:hVmnL1XF

my solution: i barely watch any anime

Prioritize.

With the fall season well underway, I'm actually finding it hard to keep up for the first time in a while. Especially since my connection blows and it takes 1½-2 hours to get a single episode.

>>32 hits the spot on the mark.

As for me, my current strategy is to watch an hour or so worth of stuff any night I have free time.

Besides that, I usually stay up for a few extra hours Friday and Saturday night(maybe 3-4 each) catching up on anything I'm still behind on, or things I just want/feel like watching, sleeping late the next day.

Of course, I'm currently too busy with school to have a job. (:p)

You think you have it bad? 7 hours per episode, with a share ratio over 5.0. Beat that.

I don't think I can keep up now...I wanted to watch Black Lagoon and Zegapain but found it hard to find the time to download all the eps comin out...along with my exisiting list I need to download which includes Anime and TV shows!

Lately I've been relying more on youtube instead of torrents, especially for sampling and following the long running shonen anime. No waiting and the quality is... well, the subs are legible. If I really like it or it has exceptional art/animation then I'll get the torrent.

Good thinking, youtube might be an idea. I'd normally go by the reccomendations of fellow Otaku if I'm unsure of what to watch at any given time, not that something like that happens very often I'd watch almost anything in the last 12 months I've gone through almost a terabyte of anime excluding my dvds. But that's 'cause I can download and watch anime in work. I'm sure the ppl on this thread can give reccomendations on what to watch to the initiator of this thread if he gives an idea of what kind of shows he likes. But if time is the problem there is little one can do bar missing out on sleep or getting some kind of personal media player and sneeking episodes in here and there. Sadly I'm guilty of both of the previous omg i have no life.

  • Dump all your friends
  • Skip work when you fall behind
  • Keep everything on your hard drive for easy access: over the course of a year, the time it takes you to fish out a DVD once a day is enough to watch 3.2 extra anime episodes.

well i usually just download episodes whenever they come out, and then like i gradually try to watch them. im a college student but right nowis summer so i have time to watch it right now. i usually can watch 4 episodes or something over a day (for some reason if i watch it in a row, i get really sleepy -_-) so i gradually catch up to an anime, but ya i still have a lot that i want to watch...

Friends are useless so you should get rid of those. I understand that you have to work but can't you cut it down to part-time? Having a girlfriend is fine and dandy, but only as long as the time you spend with her is earned back by the time she spends cooking, cleaning and doing the laundry for you. This is the perfect trade-off.
