Correctness of Nekozuki (2)

1 Name: Nekozuki !adhRKFl5jU 2005-04-15 02:10 ID:PUiDNfK3

Lets see, I picked up the word from a Fruits Basket fansub. The subtitle was 'nekozuki'. This spelling seems connected to Kyo from Fruits Basket (see http://nekozuki.datenshi-blue.net/ for example, although it a german site). The word means something like "one who likes/loves cats". Clearly, neko means "cat". However, there is no such japanese word for the romanji 'zuki'. It turns out that the work is actually 'suki' which means "(an) liking, fondness, love". So the romanji should actually be 'nekosuki' with an 's'. So the question is: should I change all my handles that are currently 'Nekozuki' to 'Nekosuki' ? And why did the 'su' become 'zu'?

btw, does this belong in another, more specific board?

This really goes much better on /nihongo/, but the first syllable of the second part of compound words in Japanese often gets voiced, thus, su becomes zu.
