It's not about following or not following the bible to the letter - it's about maintaining a political hierarchy under the disguise of religious beliefs that forces some people into a very concrete misery - e.g. AIDS or more children than would be economically reasonable (for lack of contraceptives) or guilt tripping perfect fine people for their sexuality and excluding them from their hierarchy, etc.
