Though, having been a sysadmin of a site that constantly pushed 80mbit (when it was up, lol) I see somewhat where he was coming from. (The site I helped sysadmin was one AMD Opteron Dual Core server on a 100 mbit line. Previously we had 1 dual Xeon server with a few randomly configured mirrors on about 1 30 mibit line and had no problems since the load was better balanced out.)

And alternatives, such as lighttpd and thttpd, are so freaking hard to get to do what you want as compared to apache. Especially when trying to get them to play right with php and mysql.

But I am curious as to how much they actually did pay for those along with the various components. And seeing as it it was paid with donations, the public does sort of have a right to know.

...though certainly, buying it just for the ram is retarded.
