  • Share

For raws and shit. Only downside: Minimal upload max is 50KB. Suck on that, gaijin! All you need to know here:

  • EMule

For movies, porn and albums. A bit slow, but if you stay on long enough, the queuing system actually reveals itself to be rather fair.

  • Bit Torrent

Fast and userfriendly, the P2P program of choice for us westerners. I use it mostly for porn or whatever gems I find on the net. Various clients exist, with their specific advantages and disadvantages. Myself, I use ABC:

  • Kazaa Lite K++ (lol)

I used this until a while ago to download individual songs, but now the entire network is mostly spammed with fake files.

I pretty much only use Bittorrent via Azureus. Rarely I might use Xfactor, which connects to Fasttrack (Kazaa), OpenFT and Gnutella at once, but I rarely steal songs and smaller files like that.

I have eDonkey2000 installed, but I'm not a big fan of the client, so I pretty much only use that if I want to nab something I can't get otherwise. Maybe if someone makes a worthwhile OS X-native port (no Java), I'll use it more.

My ISP NATs me, so I never get a decent upload ratio when I P2P.

By the way, is there a Mac/Linux client for Share? And is there anything there worth nabbing for the non-nihongophilic among us?

Windows only client, unless you got VirtualPC or Wine, and I guess it would work under wine no problems considering it doesnt need any really messy libraries. Other than raw stuff, its got a fair deal of Hentai. But the only way you are going to get anything decent is to have Japanese language support installed, and be able to at least copy+paste japanese into the search field.

gnucleus.
best gnutella client i've ever seen, and gnutella isn't blocked by the university's firewall (emule and bittorent are)...
