Witness helpful tech support posts such as

> Try uninstalling all the Java, QuickTime and Real player from your system (Add/Remove Programs control panel). Reboot. Launch Firefox again and see if the SSL is still broken. If it works, re-instal Java, QuickTime and Real one at a time, with reboots and testing of SSL in between each re-install.
