"San Francisco (Reuters) - The wind farm at Altamont Pass produces clean electricity for tens of thousands of homes. The windmills also kill a large number of migratory birds passing through the region east of San Francisco.

Two environmental groups are going to court with the ultimate aim of shutting down the farm for three months during the migration season to help protect red-tail hawks, golden eagles, and other raptors killed by the mills."

Hey, this sounds pretty good. I'm usually quite unhappy with environmentalists of all people opposing wind power, but the "during the migration season" approach seems like a nice, moderate solution. Sure, it's quite a long time, but wind power always has to be balanced by other power sources or more wind power far away anyway.

I know I know I gotta better idea, how about instead of that we take down the mills and put in a nuclear power plant. That way if the birds fly into a huge fucking radioactive building, we can't really be at fault because you'd have to be blind or dumb or both to do that.

Stupid hippies.
