Cindy Sheehan arrested (26)

I just saw on CNN that Cindy Sheehan was arrested by Capitol police after she was invited to Bush's State of the Union speech by a Democrat (senator or something).

No articles online about it yet. Is this crazy shit or what

She was wearing an anti-war t-shirt!
Good that she was handcuffed, she was so dangerous. ;-)

It's interesting. The news is out since 1-2+ hours, but it's nowhere on Google News/Yahoo/Reuters front pages. But if you do a search on "Sheehan", all three have articles about it.
Here is one:

Welcome to Fascist America. The Blue States really need to consider seceeding from the Union. Dunno how many of you have seen this chain letter, but I figured it was worth reposting here:

Dear Red States...

We've decided we're leaving. We intend to form our own country, and we're taking the other Blue States with us.

In case you aren't aware, that includes Hawaii, Oregon,Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and all the Northeast. We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, and especially to the people of the new country of New California.

To sum up briefly: You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states. We get stem cell research and the best beaches. We get Elliot Spitzer. You get Ken Lay.

We get the Statue of Liberty. You get Dollywood.
We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.
We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss.
We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs. You get Alabama.
We get two-thirds of the tax revenue, you get to make the red states pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single moms.

Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti-war, and we're going to want all our citizens back from Iraq at once. If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They have kids they're apparently willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and they don't care if you don't show pictures of their children's caskets coming home. We do wish you success in Iraq, and hope that the WMDs turn up, but we're not willing to spend our resources in Bush's Quagmire.

With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of 80 percent of the country's fresh water, more than 90 percent of the pineapple and lettuce, 92 percent of the nation's fresh fruit, 95 percent of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at state dinners) 90 percent of all cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the U.S. low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools, plus Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.

With the Red States, on the other hand, you will have to cope with 88 percent of all obese Americans (and their projected health care costs), 92 percent of all U.S. mosquitoes, nearly 100 percent of the tornadoes, 90 percent of the hurricanes, 99 percent of all Southern Baptists, virtually 100 percent of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia.

We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

Additionally, 38 percent of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62 percent believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44 percent say that evolution is only a theory, 53 percent that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and 61 percent of you crazy bastards believe you are people with higher morals then we lefties.

By the way, we're taking the good pot, too.

Peace out,
Blue States

that chain letter is stupid. if you want to change anything you need to actually go out there and change people's minds, rather than share stupid rhetoric with the people who already agree with you. wake up - you're digging deeper into the echo chamber, most people in the 'blue states' do not agree with this nonsense either.

Cindy Sheehan is fucking full of it. When you decide you don't like the USA political climate, especially as it pertains to censorship within the country, you do not lick Hugo Chavez's asshole.

14 Name: Citizen 2006-02-04 03:35 ID:Heaven

Yeah, Hugo Chavez sucks. I saw some progressive website once saying he was a great guy and you should buy Citgo gasoline because the money goes to him. I couldn't believe someone would write such nonsense. The guy is a shitty dictator, and all my relatives in Venezuela think so too.

I wasn't aware that Cindy Sheehan supported the guy. Seems rather hypocritical, yeah.

or do what the christian right did: take over one of the parties and use them to cause national schism and disenfranchise secularists through savvy marketing.

i love america, a land where the ones with the shortest sound bytes are the winners.

There have always been rules that things making inappropriate statements like picket signs and t-shirts are not allowed near the President while he is giving a State of the Union Address. It is neither the time nor the place to do so. This rule has been in place for many years. A woman in the audience of the address with a t-shirt on SUPPORTING the war was similarly asked to leave. She wasnt arrested because she didnt put up a struggle. Sheehan did.

Laws like this have been in place during Clintons term and people have similarly been asked to move when exibiting similar behaviour. This is simply about following the rules, not trying to crush free speech. If the laws say you arent allowed to protest during the State of the Union Adress where its being held, then guess what? You arent. End of story. You dont gotta like it but you gotta accept it. Sheehan was warned, she ignored it, and now she has to answer for it. Like everyone else who violates the law and a warning. The only person she can blame is herself. No one's being opressed. Laws are simply being enforced. Which she better be thankfull for, as theyre the only things keeping her traitorous ass from getting lynched.

Once Momma Moonbat is done with her penalty she is perfectly free to dishonor her sons noble sacrifice to safeguard his country where she left off. But if she violates a law for whatever reason, she should be held accountable for it.

> It is neither the time nor the place to do so.

Why?

I find it disgusting that we shield public officials from the potential consequences of their decisions. If you can't handle the result, you shouldn't be making it.

Cindy Sheehan is an asshole.

What?

She IS an asshole. A big gaping asshole who literally surfs to attention on the rigid corpse of her own son. Christ lady, he already died once in a war you shit on...no since in prolonging it.

Wars happen, people die, who cares? We are animals. We live to fight, fuck, eat and die.

So you can read your Voltaire, and I'll stick to my de Sade.
