Anime coming to Europe, but not America (19)

This is sort of an offshoot of the Manga in Europe thread in the manga forum, but it seems Rozen Maiden and School Rumble are both licensed in Germany.

I think the American anime industry is in a slump, nothing has ben licensed since Sukisyo in July. That's two months without any announced licenses. Take a look at animesuki's licensing list:

http://www.animesuki.com/licensed.php?browse=recent

For the past two years there have been at least a couple of titles licensed every month, then it just stopped at July 05.

You're probably right.

Notice that Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid isn't licenced yet, when it should be the fastest thing to go.

Not that it's a bad thing... more time for the better fansub groups to work on subbing it. A lot of the better ones instantly drop the project as soon as a series is licenced.

There's more stuff being prelicensed though. like currently there's still Eureka 7, and there's also Gun X Sword... and Guyver and I thikn I'm missing some others

I think it's more a case of the American licensors trying to catch up with the massive number of series licensed in recent years, as well as getting them sold off with the current glut in the market.

And there are more prelicensed shows now.

I heard ADV is having massive layoffs?

09/07/2005 - Galaxy Angel A (1st Half Season 3)

This is the first update to AnimeOnDVD's list since July.

Question marks go at the end of a question. "I heard ADV is having massive layoffs" is not a question.

On the contrary, it is an extremely common form of question in spoken English. >>5 is merely expressing himself in an unaffected, colloquial way, implying a message board thread is more like a spoken discussion than a literary work. The one at fault in this disagreement is you, for baselessly insisting that only one form of the English language is acceptable in a thread such as this one.

ADV is losing money yes

thats why almost their whole anime catologue is thinpacked, and at a ridiculusly cheap price, because singles arent selling enough

Stupid ADV, they have no business model. That's what you get for licensing everything you can get your grubby hands on.

No, that's actually no form of the English language.

Oh, so people who are speaking are not using English, is that what you mean?

No, I just meant that question marks are for questions, not statements.
