Pedobear Approved! [TM] Kodomo no Jikan (36)

Here's a thread for every lolicon's favourite show of the moment.

Is it a coincidence that the censorship mascot for Kodomo no Jikan is a bear? The first time I saw that thing I went "AH! PEDOBEAR!" and then pissed myself laughing. Turns out it isn't pedobear himself, but maybe it's his brother?

It also turns out "pedobear" is a 4chan invention. That bear character is just named "kuma" in Japan, and is not a pedo.

3 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-10-20 16:38 ID:Heaven

Well, Kuma is a pervert in the 2chan universe. He'll jump on anything that moves...

Kodomo no Kikan seems awesome from the first ep.

Also, it is definitely Pedobear in disguise.

5 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-10-20 18:54 ID:Heaven

>>3

No, he is not. And I do hope that "2chan" is short for "2channel".

6 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-10-20 20:48 ID:Heaven

>>5 Yes. No.

7 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-10-21 21:51 ID:Heaven

I remember reading somewhere that kuma was generally lecherous in his original incarnation, but the place I read that may have been notoriously inaccurate.

But if he isn't, it makes it even more amazing that they ended up using pedobear's brother in the show, it's like the meme returned to Japan...

I've watched the first ep and the OVA so far - and I'm honestly not sure I'm gonna be able to keep going. Seems like it's gonna be a really interesting show, but god DAMN have I never felt dirtier watching anime.

Don't feel dirty. Throw morals to the curb and pierce the lolis with your drill!

10 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-10-22 14:45 ID:Heaven

>>7 Yes, Kuma was very lecherous. Probably still is, although the meme popularity has faded by now.
About Pedobear, my guess is that Westerners regularly saw Japanese posting drawings of underage girls in their BBSes and saw that the other Japanese would always reply with an AA of Kuma being all excited, and concluded that Kuma was a lolicon. Far from all Japanese are/were pro-lolicons, but the pro-lolis would invariably use the Kuma AA to reply, which makes the mistake(?) understandable.

11 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-10-22 16:52 ID:Heaven

>>10

How about digging up some posts to support that? Because I have never seen Kuma being used like that.

12 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-10-22 18:26 ID:Heaven

>>11 Huh, I don't keep lolicon threads today, much less from years ago. Like I said, the Kuma AA is barely used anymore. In fact, I don't see much AA of any sort anymore on imgboards.

13 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-10-22 20:01 ID:Heaven

>>12

Look, Kuma is a 2channel meme. He has extremely little to do with imageboards. If you're getting all your info about him that way, it's no wonder you'd get it wrong.

Read the thread before saying dumb things.
Nobody is contesting the Kuma name.

He meant the article, not its title.

Seriously, >>18 is beyond being just an idiot at this point.

21 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-11-01 14:40 ID:Heaven

>>19 No he didn't say that. And even so, that article is a mere stub.

Let's try this again, then. *What is the first word of the body text of the stub article at http://d.hatena.ne.jp/keyword/%A5%AF%A5%DE%A1%BC ?*

Having read up to episode 32 of the manga and 7 of the anime it seems to me that this story tries to address issues around the sexualisation of children calmly and sensitively.

It seems the West is not ready to address this topic calmly and sensitively. Paedophiles and enilikophiles alike* view it as an excuse to masturbate to sexual images of children.

Does anyone else feel that by censoring an adult anime in this way, the producers have given in to the West's panic about this topic, making it look as if it really was just a loli-moe-fest, and so ended up undermining the serious message?

*paedophiles = people who are sexually attracted to children
*enilikophiles = people who are sexually attracted to adults

>>23
Yeah people are pretty immature sometimes. I mean you don't really need a reason to masturbate to sexual images of children.

25 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2007-12-06 17:29 ID:Heaven

>>24 sure enough!

26 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-03 18:44 ID:aTtFwztG

That level of censorship just makes a good anime seem smutty I sick of it!

27 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-03 20:16 ID:A6soNxKm

i've been following the manga. so the anime is still 'do not know if want' for me

28 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-04 10:11 ID:aVWLi3/9

If they get rid of all the rotating signs, DO WANT.

Right now I'm following along for the story, which is actually pretty good. It's a shame that censorship has to occasionally jar that experience.

29 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-04 15:43 ID:Heaven

>>26

What, are they ruining your careful rationalization about how you are not a pedophile pervert for liking the show?

30 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-06 19:25 ID:aTtFwztG

>>29 no, they're just reinforcing your delusion that even talking about child sexuality is perverted

31 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-07 00:27 ID:Heaven

>>29 also I don't need to rationalise - I freely admit I am a paedophile pervert - but this show is not just for paedophiles

32 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-07 20:52 ID:aVWLi3/9

Now that I've seen the first episode of the DVD version, I wonder why they censored any of it. Was it to make it look like it was more suspicious than it really is?

33 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-12 02:00 ID:aTtFwztG

I was somewhat disappointed by the ending - I thought there were so many more interesting places they could have taken it. I haven't seen the end of the manga yet - I hope it's better.

34 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2008-01-14 12:04 ID:Heaven

I wish someone would licence the manga and make up for the other guys' error.

35 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2011-12-17 01:19 ID:LCUI7Ry0

I once found an uncensred version of Kodomo no Jiakan, I still got it in my HDD.
It´s fucking great when Rin sucks Mimi breasts yum yum!!

I was about to call bullshit then I remembered that this actually happened. What a bizarre scene.

Whichever fansub group made the release I had included an extra "commentary" subtitles track, which just made the show even better.
