Love it, but GT only satisified my fandom enough to tolerate it. Dragonball Kai FTW lol

Dradonball was excellent. Z was... it was there.

It was great for its time. Today, it's seriously overrated.

Honestly though, Dragonball Kai looks pretty good.

I appreciate that they're skipping most of the filler and get right down to the main story, but true fans will always remember ^_^

I was a fan of the first dragonball, but YTV only played so much of it, so I'm really more of a DBZ fan. Some of the original voice recordings from funimation are always my favourites, but me and my fiancee buy up each season of DBZ as it's released. We appreciate the remastered and uncut version. We were impressed that so much effort went into it.

My all time favourite moments of DBX are the fight between goku and vegeta in the first season, and the whole buu saga is mostly hilarious.

I haven't watched DBGT at all, but I imagine I'll enjoy it enough.

I rather enjoyed it when I was younger, though as I grew up I realized that it was repetitive and could be done in a few eps per story ark.
Dragon ball was much better then Z and Gt doesn't exist in my mind.

Saint Seiya did a better alternative to the Z and onwards episodes

I haven't seen it, and I don't intend to.

17 Post deleted.

>>16 The way they fucked up the setting alone is enough to keep me from ever seeing it.

19 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2010-01-18 01:12 ID:ghCc+M9o

Not to mention they were also self conscious to cast Goku as white

Well, there are more whites than Asians in the USA.

21 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2010-01-18 17:18 ID:ghCc+M9o

Still no reason to make a character based on an Asian legend white

So every movie that's made in Asia that's based on a Western story must now be made with white actors?
Every Western remake of a Japanese horror flick must now be made with Asian actors?

>>22 No if theres a disconnection of culture and storyline.

YES IF ITS FREAKIN FICTION! GAAAH! Goku is losely based off of Sun Wukong from Journey to the West for crying out loud.

sigh first Dragonball... next Avatar >_>

I've been a Dragonball fan since kindergarten and I hated DB Evolution. But it wasn't really the casting that I had a problem with, besides the fact that none of them seemed to know what any of their characters were supposed to act like...

Except Piccolo and Yamcha.... They at least tried...

My problem was the writer. It's like he saw a commercial for DBZ and decided to write a movie based on that tiny scrap of exposure. It had none of the charm the old Dragonball had.

And Piccolo's makeup job was horrendous. I've seen regular fans do better.

My dragon balls are huge, seriously.

Does anyone read Journey to the west ?
I'm Asian and read both Western and Eastern novel such as Lord of the Ring and Three kingdom! But's seem that western people dont enjoy Asia novel?
Many manga base on them!

Not many people around these parts seem to know about Tove Jansson

I've read Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It's quite hard to get hold of Eastern novels over here. The only reason I have a copy of ROTK is because I found a textbook for asian studies sold at the British Museum (I also found an online copy once). I really want to read Journey to the West, I just never had the chance.

Tove Jansson? The author of the Moomin books?
I grew up with the animated adaptations, I loved it!
I think most people here are American though, and I don't think the Moomins were ever popular there, just Europe, Japan and Russia.

30 Name: Random Anime Otaku : 2010-01-27 15:58 ID:ghCc+M9o

They are not any popular to America. All those book stores I went into never had anything Moomin on stock, let alone any other work she has written. It depresses me a little, but on the bright side you could find all the works our Beatrix Potter in a nice box set
