Dumbing down of anime? (7)

It seems to me that in recent years, intelligent or 'deep' shows have become pretty rare.

Nowadays a show is either shounen comedy/action or a moeblob. How many recent series actually had a decent plot, concept or interesting art/scenes or symbolism?

It's not like I can't enjoy a moeblob show like K-On!, but I also want to see animated series and films that are actually quality.

When will we see animation again that compares to SE:Lain, Perfect Blue, GitS, Texhnolyze etcetera.

well, comedy action sells more :P, its hard to keep the masses entertained with a hardcore storyline. since that storyline will target a smaller number of people than comedy action.

Darker than Black's been pretty good, although even that felt the need to add a bonus loli this season. Real Drive was basically GiTS: Lite (even made by Shirou) but again, that padded out the Sci-fi with fat chicks.

It's a shame nobody's got the balls to make something with a bit of risk to it.
