I felt the same way about Stephen King and his Dark Tower series when I heard about some of his troubles.

WOT needed to end a long time ago, I got 5 books into it and gave up.

However there is a side of me who would laugh hysterically if he died with one book to go! Same goes for JK Rowling.

the WoT hasn't had a decent plot direction since book 3... That doesn't mean I haven't read them all though.
