Reading his work gives me a compulsion to stick it to The Man. His writing is good on technical merits, but seems kind of shrill about post-intellectual-property culture.

I'm planning of picking up Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom at some point here; anyone who's read it want to warn me off?

I like Doctorow's ideas more than I like his books.

His writing isn't terrible, so you might like it.
