So, what is it? I've never heard of it until reading Kotaku's news article about Square Enix's new job application.
To sum up the article, they want a short story to be written in Chicago Manual style.
So what is it used for?
The Chicago Manual of Style is a book which prescribes writing style (e.g. punctuation, citation, layout, etc). Square Enix (and other businesses and academic communities and such) use it to make everything uniform and easier to process.
just out of curiosity... does it differ in any way from standard MLA, or is it just a "sum-up" of the rules of MLA?
So how is CMS used towards a story?
I can see where CMS could be used for writings in a magazine or newspaper, or even a term paper; but, how can it be used in a creative writing piece where citation and uniformity isn't focused upon?
