okay this is gonna sound silly but i've never tried perl, dont even know what it's used for -_-
i'm proficient in c, c++, c#, php, java, asp(shootme), asp.net and alot of sql/tsql, nothing makes my day as much as a nice db -_^
i've heard .alot. ppl talking about how perl is great and so on but never said anything else. so i was wondering over it's structure and why i'd be better off using it in situations where i could use one of the above mentioned langs?
i am a linux, windows and osx user so i'm always looking for better and faster ways to doing things. ex. if i have to spend 3 extra hours on a function cus it'd make it more efficient then so be it..

nine.

It can be used for, say, anonymous bbs's.

Perl is the elitist superstructure of programming languages.

GJ making a shitty thread that will die the second it falls off the front page.

People, put useful information in the thread subject, or else the thread will be completely useless.

Nobody will probably smack you for the substance of a question, or at least, it would have to be much dumber than this. Choosing an uninformative thread title was a poor decision, though. Also some of us prefer it if you post anonymously, but that's not as big of a problem.

Perl is a complicated, inelegant, big, but convenient programming language. It's good for writing up short scripts to get something done in a hurry, especially if that something involves processing text. Some people also use Perl for big projects, like the script this board uses, but personally, I would go insane.

Of the languages you listed, it's most similar to PHP, but much better designed and more useful, IMO. (See the "PHP users are dumb" thread for some reasons why some people agree with me.)

Learn to spell, fucktard, or alternatively use a spellchecker. Correct use of capital letters would also be nice. Indeed, remember that we're not here to wipe your arse, to solve your problems, to tell you what language to use, to make difficult decisions on your behalf or otherwise act as your all-knowing mother surrogate.

Your understanding of the "2-ch style" messageboard format is also lacking. You could have gained understanding by lurking, i.e. browsing through older threads, yet you did not do so. If you had, you would be aware that most of the time, the only thing that a reader sees of your thread is the title, and as such the title should properly describe the topic of which you would raise discussion. What >>6 said; even if this thread had not been a miscarriage by format, its content would've doomed it to the "HOEP U GOT 10BUX" bin on the less forgiving boards.

Also, being as this is an anonymous messageboard, anonymity is recommended, indeed it is the default. If you must be a name- or tripfag, then so be it, however it is regarded as a newbie mistake and derision is routinely heaped on users who habitually tripfag threads up. Your reputation is irrelevant, internet celebrities are not made on messageboards, identity does not build community. Neither do your attempts to make yourself distinctive through spuriously cute "^^-" smilies endear you to anyone, fuckface.

More to the point, no one cares about what makes your day, or how big a hard-on you have for micro-optimization. Your alternative ".emphasis." is also regarded as unwelcome, especially given that the Kareha software (upon which the operation of this messageboard rests) supports a form of lightweight tagging known as WakabaMark. Again, you could have learned more about it by clicking the "More options..." link on the right side of the "Reply" button, or directly below the "Create new thread" button; yet, thrust into an unfamiliar format, making an effort to figure it out seemed the farthest thing from your mind.

And for the love of all that is holy, do not presume to waste our screen space by appending a signature to your posts by hand. If there is no such a feature in the board software, then perhaps you should accept that signatures are not part of the format; this is another thing you could've understood via thorough lurking had you elected to demean yourself with such a pedestrian act.

Do not let the E-door hit you on the E-arse on the way out. (There's instructions right next to the door. Not that you'd pay them any attention of course.)
