Not quite the $100 laptop. I know the woman who designed the screens for these machines left the project to form a for-profit analog of the OLPC. I hope she ends up designing something sized like a smartphone, with Gnome installed by default. Something like the iPhone, but stupidly cheap, a physical kbd, and none of AT&T's or Apple's lockdown shit. Oh, and USB ports and a card slot like the XO-1.

Nokia n770/800/810?

A bit larger than a phone though.

Does Nokia come with a bash terminal?

I've been thinking of getting an Eee. Seems like it'd be a bit more practical than the XO. Dunno, though, as I haven't really researched either to any real extent.

It's based on this, using a Debian-derived distro: http://maemo.org/

I don't know if it comes with Bash by default, but a coworker spent a month coding some python apps on it while he was traveling, so you certainly have access to the command line and can add whatever you want to its filesystem.
