NAGOYA \ The arrest of a 28-year-old man Thursday on suspicion of stealing a pair of children's shoes from a house in the city of Owariasahi, Aichi Prefecture, led police to a closetful of 180 pairs of kids' shoes in the man's home. Police found the shoes, worn in schools, in the home of Masashi Kamada in Nagoya. Most of the shoes belonged to girls, police said.

Police have had a number of reports in the past several years of school shoes being stolen from homes in the Nagoya area. In investigating the thefts, police came up with Kamada's name as his car had been seen near the crime scenes. Kamada is already under arrest for stealing four pachinko machines from a truck in a parking lot in Kasugai.
