For your information, that involves sitting the victim on a pole, in our case a broomstick (geez, we have a lot of broomsticks at hogwarts...) and slowly letting his weight bear him down to earth. If the stick doesn' puncture any vital organs during this (slow) process of coming down to earth, the victim can survive quite a few days. Empirical evidence supports the idea that taking a crap becomes a very difficult task, then again the victim probably is less interested in hygiene by that time.
