Are there any people here that follow this sort of style?♪
I've always liked it, but I've just stuck to a plain skirt-and-tee deal for a long time. That's pretty boring, I think, so I'd like to get more into the thrift and DIY scene. ♪♪
I've been making skirts since I was pretty young, and I'm good enough at crafts and sewing that I can do DIY projects so I don't have a problem with that aspect, but when it comes to shirts and shoes, I'm completely at a loss. I've only ever worn t-shirts and I pretty much have one pair of shoes at a time, so I'm nervous to stray away from that comfort zone, even though I'd really like to.
Any advice for working up to a better style of dress?

I buy stuff at thrift stores because I like the fact that I can get two pairs of jeans and 5 t-shirts for a little over 50 bucks.
i'm totally down with the vintage fashion.
you're guaranteed to never run into people with the same clothes on. its sweet.
and ya soooooo cheap.
you can get shoes and shirts at vintage places no problem.
boots are really in this season. although the crazy elaborate ones are really cute i recomend just black or brown or red ones. simple to start off with so they go with everything. even rubber boots are sexy with a skirt or short shorts if you got the legs for it.
dresses are also 'in' too. and maybe if you can make a skirt you make a dress too. i've seen those big puffy skirts made into a cute dress by just pulling them up to your armpits and throwing a belt on it.

I loves me some thrift stores. I'm pretty sure I'm the only girl at my uni that regularly wears a lavender velvet suit-jacket and bowler hat.

wear a purple shirt with a mustard cardigan and some jeans. maybe some red flat shoes.

I love thrift stores. Sometimes I'll go into one for two or three hours and end up with one decent shirt for $5, but it's worth it. Especially when it's one of those super comfy t-shirts from the 80s.
Same goes for garage sales. Often a several-hour journey around town will turn up maybe two or three good items, but there are just some things you won't find in retail outlets for any price.
