The old thread was long dead, and didn't really offer the advice I was looking for....
How do I get rid of razor burn on my neck? I use a new razor ever time I shave, and no matter how many blades it has, I get razor burn without fail. The only exception is if I go without shaving for about a week and then shave, but due to the speed my hair grows, that looks like total shit.
I typically shave my neck in the shower and then hop out for a second to use shaving cream and a mirror for the rest of my face. I shave against hair because it goes smoother that way, except on the bottom of my neck where I have to shave both ways.
tl;dr: How do I get rid of razor burn?
Have you tried shaving with or across the grain? I recently tried with, and my bumps went away. It's not as smooth, but atleast there's no bumps.
If you have a very sensitive skin, you probably can't make them disappear completely. I know I can't.
The only solution I found, is shaving before going to bed. That way, hair is really short when I shave it in the morning and I can do just a light shaving to be smooth with the least burn. Also, I always shave with the hair, except in a region of my neck where it grows in many directions at a time and this sucks. Then, I rinse with cold water, and shave a second time against.
But still. Hopefully in winter I can wear a scarf.
I have really sensitive skin. The answer here is typically to use an electric razor.
The other solution is to wash the area in warm water and then do the shaving, then use cold water after.
By doing either I've been able to avoid it.
Another thing you can do is rub a bit of baby oil into your skin after you shave. It helps.
Go to a drugstore with an upscale cosmetic and skinscare section. They can help you.
