Your Favorite Icecream Flavour! (51)

1 Name: age!hT7zRmFpyY 2005-03-30 02:39 ID:O+emqeYz

What is your favorite icecream flavour?

Mine would be pistachio, but I am also fond of being able to settle for a plain chocolate or strawberry.

I don't know much about anything fancy, but combining lime and vanilla works well for me.

Rocky Road or Cookie Dough. I'm still a kid at heart, I guess.

>Rocky Road or Cookie Dough

What are those, exactly?

6 Name: Apprentice Chef 2005-03-31 18:09 ID:Heaven

Rocky Road - "Though there are variations on the flavor, it generally has the ice cream with added nuts and marshmallows. Created in 1929 after the Great Depression to calm jitters." - wikipedia

I usually see fudge, too, and it's chocolate ice cream.

Cookie Dough is kinda like Chocolate Chip, except you have chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough in the vanilla.

I vote mint chip!

Chocolate and peanut butter.

I like to try new flavors, but I usually come back to my favorite.

Next time I'm in Japan I want to try sesame ice cream.

Recently I found this brand-specific flavor called "Moose tracks"
it's vanilla with chocolate fudge swirled in, and small chocolate peanut butter cups
it's delicious!

still I vote for mint chip. not too big a fan of the asian flavours (green tea - ok, red bean - ok, taro - not so ok)

I don't eat ice cream much.... when I do, I like buying Blue Bell brand Cookies 'n Cream. You have to eat it with a plastic spoon, though.

Damn... now I want some....

Kamiyama Mangetsu-chan flavour is rumoured to be top-notch, though it is also said to appeal only to greying old perverts.

I have to agree with one exception: Godiva brand ice cream. WOW, chocolatey. Give it a try.

I'm assuming you live in Texas. If you do, and reside in a mjor city, find you nearest Central Market and look for ice cream flavoured with flowers. Good stuff.

Godiva chocolate ice cream is the only chocolate ice cream. Unless, of course, you make some yourself.

Usually, in my country's media, it's reported that Japanese have a fancy for all weird flavours of ice cream, like "walrus", "vinegar" or "spaghetti" - I don't understand why this is the case....

I love places with "make your own flavor" type things like Coldstone Creamery or Maggie Moos.

We don't have either where I live now though, but last time I went to coldstone, they had stopped having the liquid flavor stuff, totally lame! It was so awesome to be able to add mint flavor to chocolate ice cream.... and then put brownies in it or something.

Pistachio is my favourite. <3

I like plain strawberry ice-cream too, but it's not possible to buy plain strawberry ice-cream in the stores here.. only if you order ice-creams in cafés or things like that. Sadness.

Sorbet ice-cream is also very, very good. Mango sorbet!

Here's an ice cream dish from my local Thai restaurant. It's awesome.

Ingredients: rice, coconut milk, good vanilla ice cream; optional honey or condensed milk

Make some rice, ideally the sticky kind, but any old rice will do. With the hot rice, fill a deep bowl, sundae or pint glass halfway. Add a couple scoops of ice cream on top of the rice. Pour coconut milk over it until the bowl or glass is almost full. Optionally drizzle honey or condensed milk on the top. Serve. Enjoy foodgasm.

You have to make this quickly because the ice cream starts to melt fast with the hot rice beneath it. When you're almost finished eating it the stuff just gets mixed together in this ridiculously sweet coconutty ice creamy glop somewhat reminiscent of tapioca.
