In Germany we have a company producing Pocky in license from the Japanese. It's called "Mikado". We only have two variants though, dark chocolate and milk chocolate (which is pretty new).
I always liked that, even as a kid when I didn't associate it with Japan and did not give anything about Japan anyway. So yes, I like Pocky and would love to try others flavors and no, I do not like it because it has something to do with Japan but because I like the flavor better than other cookies (or whatever). You can't get something quite like it here. But when I am in the mood for American chocolate cookies, I like those too, although I don't like the American culture...
