i am in college, and the dorm foods suck. i mean, yeah, they have varieties, but they just taste so bad that... it is just awful. like i just ate this chicken breast that is cooked with some white sauce, but its not alfredo, and it is just gross. so to everyone else that is also in college, how is the dorm food? you like it?
Dorm food? You mean cafeteria food?
When I was in college, the cafeteria was horrible. Once we even got horse meat. I worked in the kitchen. The manager bought meat wrapped in white paper from some guy selling it out of a van. When we fried it and called it "steak" it wasn't so bad, but when we cut up the leftovers the next day and boiled them in soup, it smelled like canned dog food and everyone knew what it was. x_X;
Even the fast food places off campus were better than that cafeteria.
>>2 Wow.
Our cafeteria food isn't that bad. It's undercooked or underseasoned on occasion, but over all, it's pretty tasty. Gets the job done, at least.
get one of those portable gas stove things and have a hot pot every night! ~_^
College dorm food here's pretty decent. Cafeteria = not too shabby. The only problem we have at my school is the Cafeteria hours are terrible. Dinner's done by 7 and if you want food after that you have to go off campus.
On my campus we have a mix of standard cafeteria fare that's oriented towards the on-campus students and the more expensive franchise places that cater to staff and off-campus students with some cash to burn.
The cafeteria's are widely considered to be terrible, really confusing too since the food actually looks palatable. I remember my first time getting some standard cafeteria pizza here, it looked so inviting at the time, big mistake! The stuff was terrible, same for pretty much everything else on the menu. I knew at least one person who worked on the cafeteria staff for awhile, apparently their secret ingredient was onions, lots of em. They supposedly would even mix onions into the pancake batter at breakfast, pounds of onions. On the plus side though they are open until 2am which is awfully convenient. The other dining locations are chains that are awfully expensive for college students like subways, ben and jerry's, and so forth but are pretty decent.
Food quality depends on where you go to school. Where I went to college, the food wasn't great, and it was overpriced, but it wasn't anything horrible and I never had trouble finding something to eat that looked appetizing.
