Chicken. I hate it. (20)

I used to like chicken. I used to. But in my house, my spoiled little brother liked it too much, and my mother started to cook (or buy) chicken 3 days at week. Now not only i loathe it, but when i try to eat it i end up throwing it up. Merely thinking of the taste of chicken makes me sick. And my brother is still happy about it, my sister is begginning to have the same problem as me, and my mother doesn't care because she is always in one of those freakish diets and she doesn't eat the same food as us. A temporary solution was to simply give the food to the cat and go to eat outside. But i'm wasting all my money either eating in cheap restaurants, or buying food from the supermarket. I'm thinking of doing something with the taste of it, but the only thing i can think of right now is using curry. Obscene amounts of curry.

I would like to hear suggestions, for a quick, cheap, and effective way of changing the flavour of the chicken so much that doesn't make me sick.

I know my grammar is poor, i'm not a native speaker.

My favorite for chicken is plum sauce, must be a good quality though.
Washing it down with a strong tasting drink or just water could make it more palatable.

It's is actually very good for casual writing, I wouldn't have known you weren't a native speaker unless you mentioned it.

Cut it into small bits and use a lot of teriyaki sauce. Also, if you eat chicken and throw up in front of your mom, maybe she'll finally get it through her skull that it's making you sick.

I did what >>3 suggested. The teriyaki sauce, not the trowing up part (But already happened once and my mother still doesn't care). I used a bastard version of teriyaki; Soy sauce, vodka (there is no sake or mirin in my house and vodka was the only thing i could find) and orange honey. It was not all that good (i blame my lack of cooking technique), but still it was something.
My sister tried with a homemade hot chili sauce, but it was so hot nobody was able to eat it anyways ^^

Chicken is a VERY versatile food and there are lots of ways to cook it. If you have gotten this tired of it, is your mom cooking it the same way every time?

Yes, but if you suggest her to change a recipe or try a new one she'll get upset about it. She even gets angry if i cut the tomato in slices intead of little dices when preparing the salad.
Right now i' eating biscuits. Lots of them. My sister ran away to my father's house. Guess what my mother is cooking again.
I guess is a very common problem in my country. Nobody knows how to cook properly (My grandmoher thinks i'm some kind of cooking genius because i'm the only person in that house tht makes decent spaguetti. And the only thing i do is to boil them ten minutes instead of twenty five.), and nobody really cares in learning.
I think i'll do some spaguetti (thinking of it made me craving it) with oil and garlic when i get home.

Sounds intense, more so than I thought. Almost deserves cross-posting in Personal Issues.
Is it possible to ship your little brother of to live with your father?
Or maybe you could join your sister there.

I sympathize with the family member on a freakish diet, it's so inconvenient and obnoxious for everyone else.

Spaghetti made me think of Italy, but you say nobody knows how to cook... and that could not be Italy.
My guess is Mexico. (and my backup is Brazil, followed by Ecuador)

>>9 Actually I envy mexicans. They have the best food in the entire continent. Never tasted any brazilian dish. I'm from Chile. It was a very close guess.

Today, i made a deal with a friend that lives alone. I cook, and we both eat decently ^^

I'm glad you've found a resolution, at least for now.

I figured your first language might be Spanish, based on how you spelt Spaghetti. It's spoken in so many countries though.

Um, OP, I have a few links that probably are very relevant for your interests:
http://www.anonib.com/chefchan/ Another food board, pretty good.
http://zip.4chan.org/ck/imgboard.html seems down right now but should get back on later, yet another good food board.
There's a tv-show you should see, the episodes are normally 20 minutes each. It's named "Good Eats".

The user LikeTheHat at youtube.com has uploaded a lot of Good Eats episodes on his account, including ones on the topic of chicken. It's a brilliant show, it's more about the science of cooking, and why things turn out the way they do, than about following recipes like a robot.

Oh.. And one more thing: Good Eats is a food program from USA, so they might mention a few ingredients you don't have access to. But as it's a very educational show about the science of cooking, that never has bothered me.

OP here. Wow, thanks guys!

I love chicken, but I'm really not fond of duck. Though that may just be because I hardly ever eat it--when I was a kid I used to think I hated lamb until my mum started cooking it regularly, then I developed a taste for it.

Since we're getting off-topic onto lamb, I hate lamb because it's almost all I ever got to eat as a kid. Stupid sheep farm diet.
