I am going to enter a Chili Cookoff at my school in the "Most Original Recipe" category. I got a decent amount of ideas including a Shrimp Chili with cocktail sauce to replace tomato. A White Chicken Chili using Alfredo Sauce. And my personal favorite so far a Dessert Chili using jelly beans, gummi bears and the like with the "sauce" being soft serve ice cream.
But the contest is still 2 months away so I thought I would get as many ideas as I could before time. So please share what you can think up. And as for the rules as long as it is served in a pot/crockpot type container with both liquid and solid parts it pretty much works for the "Most Original" category.
Thanks alot.
Not gonna lie, that dessert chili sounds downright disgusting. I'd go for something a little less overkill on sweetness if I wanted to eat more than a spoonful's worth.
Chilli desserts have been known to work. You add the right amount of chili to chocolate and it tastes great. I'd take out the jelly beans and shit though, and go for a more direct home made ice cream with chilli as the flavouring.
Oh man! That dessert chili sounds amazing!! I'd love to try some of that! :)
My neighborhood is having a Chili Cookoff coming up in a couple weeks. We were thinking about making some, and if not, then to go Chili testing lol. ^_~
Man I love Chili! XD
>>1 I don't have alot of ideas though...I'm sorry. All your ideas sound great. However I think it would be interesting to have seaweed bits in Chili...XD
It reaches a point where it's no longer chili. Why people keep calling it chili when it's nothing of the sort is beyond me. That and a lot of people call a pot of red gruel with beans in it chili, when it's more of an Americanized version of something else.
As long as there is chili in it, does it not qualify?
I'm not too familiar with this weird restriction of chili only to one type of food which can be made with the stuff.
you could make chocolate mousse with a hint of chilli as a dessert
Okay, add a dash of chili powder to a salad and call it chili. Enter it in a chili competition. Do all the inane things you like with chili powder and call it all chili. Me, I'll use some hamburger meat to make soup and call it a hamburger.
Make your chili with pepper spray
>>9 That could likely win for most original recipe.
OP here. I decided to go with the White Chicken Chili idea and won 1st in Most Original Recipe. The entries to Hottest Chili were pretty insane hahaha...
