Is monosodium glutamate bad? I mean I have asthma, is it bad for me?
At best it's mostly harmless, but some people are more sensitive to it than others. I prefer real food, personally.
is it in Miso?
I once tried this Miso Ramen noodle box from my local Asian market, and nothing happened.

It's in pretty much any prepackaged food with a savory flavor to it. Ramen, miso, fried chicken etc.
I know, I just looked at a package of instant bowl ramen, and it's like the third listed ingredient on there, and I eat it all the time. So I got nothing to worry about now, ya!
It's why you can never make Chinese food at home from scratch that tastes like Chinese food from a restaurant.
Knowing I've consumed a collective ton or so of it in my lifetime, I have to say that I'm a tad concerned for its effects on my health.
Stuff is just naturally occuring salt, like in seaweed. Some people are allergic szall.
I had read up on it once upon a time. The person that did the original report had complained about getting severe head-aches from consuming food prepared with it. I think he's just a bitch. I don't remember there being any cancer links or any real dangerous diseases. Mostly bad PR (public relations) from these type of reports from back in the day. You might want to double check my assertion though since its been few years since I looked it up.
...I like MSG...
Glutamate is pretty harmless. It's actually one of the more plentiful neurotransmitters of the human brain. If you don't get headaches from it, go wild.
And MSG = Monosodium glutamate. It's the salt of the amino acid glutamic acid.
And an amino acid is a type of organic compound that is found naturally in every living thing. Amino acids are what proteins are made of.
I'm so very dissapointed here! >:(
