i think the idea is not so bad, i just think that there are some bad points about it, for example the kinda small display or the buttons.

After all, i wanted a cellphone. Now i can listen to mp3 and sometimes play games too, even some good ones. So i think it is not so bad.

That's the thing: The N-Gage is a pretty good PHONE. If they'd marketed it as a geeky phone that plays games and music, it would have been pretty well-received, probably. But instead they insisted it was a console that competed with the GBA, and it totally sucked at that.

And then they re-designed it and removed a lot of the features that made it desirable, to further streamline it as a game machine, thus rendering it useless.

true. its of course nothing against the GBA etc. but if you want a great phone its good, with some of the best games you can get for a phone ´∀`
I recomment the old style N-Gage btw, and not the QD. Because the QD is missing some of the good features like mp3 playback etc...

I personally think the idea was dead from the get-go. What do phones have in common with consoles? Absolutely nothing. At least with cameras (which I'd rather my phone didn't have) there is also a possible purpose for communication.

I agree with >>8, the reason most cell phones have games is for people to kill time, not for any serious gaming. Anyone who wants anything more from portable games will get it outside their phone.

I think a portable game system with something like mp3 playback isn't a bad idea, but really, portable game systems are best as just that. Cramming in too many features will just make things expensive, confusing, and reduce the quality of each feature.

The DS has the right idea with it's communication being simple and fun, as well as optional.

Besides the fact that side talking looks ridiculous (^-^) But one the new one, it's not side talking anymore, right? Isn't it like, you put the screen on your face and it gets all smeared or something?

n-gages are free with rebates/activation now, so I imagine the userbase will grow - albeit slowly. who knows, I might just get one the next time I need a new phone.

and hey, sega develops games for it - it can't be all bad ;o
