I found some kind of problem. SVSYS.DLL crashes at the end of the 1st stage, and when you try to change the keyboard settings (and maybe some other places, haven't seen yet). I think it has to do with Windows not recognizing the Japanese file names (in particular, file names that include illegal characters for English versions like comma and slash).
Anyone know how to fix it?
Actually my friend is on XP and he has the same problem too.
Have you change the regional setting to Japanesse?
old thread but i must find this game, anyone know where ic an download it from?
I had the same problem with the SVSYS.DLL under WinXP Pro (Beta 4). Here's how I fixed it: Select both SVSYS.DLL and SVW32.EXE, and right click on the .EXE > Properties. Under the compatability tab, I selected 'Run under compatability mode for' Win98/ME, also selected 'Disable Visual Themes' and 'Turn Off Advanced Text Services for This Program'. It now runs fine (other than I had no clue it had joystick support earlier, and was wondering why my controls for player one didn't work until I checked the SVW32.log file).
Hope this also solves your problem with the crashing DLL. Enjoy.

I had no problem on my labtop, maybe if you install the japanese language settings for your computer it might help it... but then again, I played it just fine without that and when my friend had his with the japanese lettering I installed the language settings for it. But I'm not a keyboard user, I use a gamepad, try to purchase one and maybe your problem will be solved. I use a logitech.
WinXP, tried what >>11 said, but it still failed me
I crash after any fight :(
JP regional settings
handy copy pasta:
The CD image file from tokyotosho was missing the "You win" voice file so when the game tries to play the sound, it crashes. There are two ways to fix it. The best is to get the 3.02 patch from the official website (http://dksoft.sakura.ne.jp/maribato_302.zip) and extract the files inside your [Program Files\DKソフトウェア開発室\maribato] folder; it not only contains the needed .wav (seems to be either a "whoops, we goofed, here's the sound" from DK software or a check to make sure people who just copy the CD can't play the game) but also has the data files to make Shiori, Kanako and Shizuna playable.
Alternatively, you can go into the extracted .rar for a previous Maribato version (if you still have it on your hard drive somewhere), copy the .wav file labeled "YOU, WIN" and paste it into the maribato data folder where all the other .wavs are. That will at least let you play the game, though the new characters won't be unlocked that way.
PS: Kanako is well balanced but has ridiculously overpowered specials, Shizuna is excessively cheap (her singing-note projectiles remain on screen for about 5 seconds after she shoots them and she has four specials) and Shiori has Wolfwood's Cross Punisher and is so strong as to be borderline broken.
also, any crash at the end of a match can probably be attributed to not having YOU,LOSE.wav or YOU,WIN.wav
lol
sorry how to fix all these problems help us to play this game better and more peace in mind onegai desu
My copy does not even make it to the whole title screen. The first character appears, then it crashes. I have version 3.0, or whichever one introduces Shizuka and Kanako...
just wonder, how many of you have watched Maria-sama ga Miteru anime?
I have no problem with the game if I win every round against the CPU. If I lose a single round the damn .exe crashes, it's annoying when I lose just one or two matches before the final fight with youko, in the versus mode I have another problem when the match ends, the cuote of the winners appears but when the character select screen is loading the .exe once again crashes, one more problem I have with the crashing .exe (But this one is little) appears when I finish the game (without losing a single round of course), it appears after the congratulations screen and credits. So, my main problem is losing a round against CPU, if someone could tell me where to download the YOU,LOSE archive I will be so happy and grateful. I will try the maribato 302.zip and see what happens, and answering the question, I have watched the entire Maria-Sama ga Miteru anime, even the recent third saga third OVA.
My, I have written a lot, Thanks for the 302.zip link. See ya.
I have downloaded the game and unzipped it, but there is a load error that comes up, even if my system is set to Japanese.Anyone having this problem?
