2GET!
Definitely different. Not much else to say.
Left-handers will certainly like this though.
I've waited for a decade for a game where I can fluidly control melee words(next Zelda?).
Thank you Nintendo!
I'm thinking: Nintendo will use this for some awesome and fun games, everybody else will still be stuck in gamepad land, and won't know what to do.
I hope I'm wrong about the second part, but most of the game industry seem too stuck in their ruts to follow when Nintendo tries to do something new and fresh.
I don't get why Nintendo does this. They seem to be doing weird things for the sake of being weird. Bongos, DS, now this controller.
Nintendo = Yoko Ono of the video game world.
It's certainly more interesting that the standard "bigger, faster, better!" spiel the other two players are engaging in. At the very least, it makes new styles of gameplay viable. Nintendo could do very well in the next round if this catches on.
However, I'm also wondering how durable those controllers are going to be. With so many sensors, and a rumble pack, controller longevity might become an issue.
This concept seems really cool to me, but amongst my friends there's been nothing but hate and anger towards it. Most heard comment: "My hand will get tired!"

I doubt that people who invest energy in arguing about gaming devices are not also proficient wankers and therefore not likely to quickly get tired hands over this issue...
I've seen the argument presented that the controller sucks because you use it as a sword in an RPG, you'll get tired after hacking and slashing away for hours on end.
And I can't help seeing this as an argument about why RPGs suck, and not the controller.
the interesting thing is that the main argument against this controller is "it won't work as well for playing the same exact shit we've been playing for the last 25 years!"
that's the POINT

...and a stick-like shape... and allegedly you will be able to create your own games... hey fun.
what would happen when Revolution is released:
1:It makes a game revolution , and PS3 and Xbox360 must follow.
2:it flops and nintendo goes bankrupt.
If nintendo can just pull this off.
I'm looking forward to the "slam-the-receiver-in-someone's-ear" (/English) minigame that I hope will appear from somewhere.

Who says swords are limited to menu based or even action RPGs? I want another Die by the Sword, dammit, and I want scalable movements so I can choose between swining my whole arm or wiggling my wrist as it rests on my lap.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that with this size and shape, Nintendo has created the most portable controller ever. If you're going over to a friend's place for a party game you can tuck it in your pocket instead of finding a bag for a bulkier traditional controller or hoping the friend has enough.
I'll be the first one to say this out loud.
THANK YOU NINTENDO FOR MAKING A GODDAMN DILDO-SHAPED CONTROLLER.
Mmm... a rumbling rod.
It's already been anounced there's going to be a rumble feature.
Horny gaming girls 'round the world may now rejoice
