i can't think of a single decent or innovative use of the hardware from anywhere outside of Japan. Nothing like Kirby, Ouendan, Project Rub, Wario Ware, Bust a Move DS, New Rainbow Islands, Electroplankton, Pac-Pix, even Pac'n Roll. Most of them are just licensed cartoon shite that could have been done on the GBA, or shoddy attempts to replicate "proper" console games.
Americans like 'splosions!!! Ka'Pew!!
seriously, piss off. i like all kinds of games, regardless of where they come from. i'm just saying there's this great hardware innovation here, and what have western developers done with it? nothing. at least, nothing that's getting published - im sure a lot of it has a lot to do with the domination of the low-risk innovation-free likes of EA around here.
I think this is a valid question. To a certain extent the same question applies to delevopment on all platforms, console or PC... Anyway with the low traffic here the chances of you getting a good discussion let alone plausible answers is — nil. I suggest GAF.
I think it's more that Western devs are into
PC and Xbox/Xbox360. Bioware has made some good stuff, as has Blizzard and Snowblind.
Sony being a Japanese Co favors Japanese games. Sims is a pretty good game too.

Like Movies most American based games are clones. Add some eye candy and higher a overpaid actor to voice the game and wala American game number 101 is done. The problem is that big business is no usually very conducive to good games. With near impossiblt to achieve dead lines, final say over creative content( can you imagine lawyers able to tell a game creator what can and can't be in a game?) and all the focus on looks and sound over game play and story line.
Any wonder why these games are so less interesting than others that do not suffer from the above?
Having said all that, I still think there are some good games coming out of the west, as there have been for many years past. Just in the past they were are for the real game power houses, PCs. No console can touch a $400 PC in graphics, sound, speed and device input. Unfortianatly, mostly due to greed, the PC is not seeing as many titles as the consoles these days, and in the west that means less and less options and content in games. :(
