I hate video game store clerks (12)

I went to the mall a couple days ago and went in to Gamestop to see if they had a new copy of a game for the DS I wanted. They said they did, then proceeded to search through one of their cabinets. They pulled out a bag with an instruction booklet. I asked if they had any unopened copies. They didn't. I said, "That's alright, I don't want it."

The guy responded with, "What, because it's not in shrink wrap?" "I hate having crap on new games like stickers on the box and booklet and stuff," I replied. The male clerk said "Are you serious?" while the female clerk said something like "Wow" and proceeded to laugh. I walked away, annoyed, and took my business to Electronics Boutique where they happened to have an unopened copy of the game.

My question is, what the hell is it with young kids these days? Nobody cares about product presentation anymore. Nobody cares about the condition or quality of a physical game product. Why do stores sell opened and mangled game at new prices, when I might as well just get a used game? Also, what position is a clerk at some shitty video game store in to laugh at their customers over how they prefer a product?

I hate this new trend in the video game market where it doesn't matter what shape a new game comes in, all we care about is getting the game itself right?

I've bought things at gamestop twice now where they forgot to put the freakin' disc in. The first time I returned, and they gave it to me. The second time... well, took me a while to notice, and I still keep forgetting to return ita (Although that was about a month or two ago, by now.)

Well, personally, I don't care about presentation, as long as the disk or cartridge itself is in good condition. The point is to play the game, not look at the pretty box.

They hate you back, apparently. <3

those employess need to get under controll. i dont work at a game store, but when you work in any sort of reatail situation it's always bad to laugh at the customer.

>>3 If I paid extra for a pretty box I should get a pretty box.

a clerk once tried to sell me a game and manual in a ziploc bag, telling me, "we'll take five bucks off!" fuck THAT.

The ziplock bag is probably more protective than the dvd cases they use at gamestop. I'll never understand how people manage to lose the cases. I understand with cartridges.. i didn't keep any of those boxes.

Anyways, on subject, the clerks give me strange looks when I want to see the discs before I buy a used copy. Ofcourse they have the discs shrinkwrapped to the manual with the label facing out! Why am I going to pay $30 for a used game if it is scratched to hell?

That's why I either buy online or buy games from Blockbuster. I'm sick of EBgames/Gamestop shit.

Well, I usually throw the cases away, because they take up shelf space. I keep all my games in CD and DVD wallets so I can fit them all onto the same shelf. Of course, this makes it much harder to sell the games that I realize aren't worth playing...

I hear you guys - game store clerks are bullshit.
they've laughed at me for games i've picked up before, and the dipshits constantly forget to give me DISKS WITH THE CASES.

also, I hear you, >>1. I can't tell you how many DVD-cases i've had to buy because of the damn sticker residue on used game cases - I think I might stop buying used games all together, but otherwise the games I want are too rare.

just take your business elsewhere. maybe they'll learn not to assholes after it loses them a few sales.
