I never bought a DC when they came out, but I really wanted to play Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Ikaruga so I downloaded Chankast. It's the only fully working emulator I've seen for the DC. hxxp://www.chanka.org. You can get the DC bios files at hxxp://emuparadise.org; finding the bios was a pain in the ass, and they have both the files for dload.
What are some classic, good DC games I should try to download or potentially buy?
Other than the ones you have now, Soul Caliber and Sonic Adventure are pretty good.

Personally, I think you all ought to play Sonic Adventure 2. Maybe it's just because I like 3D platformers so much. :-P
