Let's talk about video game music!
Such as…
Koji Kondo…Mario,Zelda
Nobuo Uematsu…Final Fantasy
Yasunori Mitsuda…Chrono Trigger
Kenji Ito…Romancing Sa Ga
Yoko Simomura…Street Fighter Ⅱ
Motoi sakuraba…VALKYRIE PROFILE
Koichi Sugiyama…Dragon Warrior
(Mamoru Fuzisawa…ghibli animation)
etc…
ZUN
( ゚ ヮ゚)....DQN RPG
Final Fantasy 7...composed by Uematsu Nobuo.
I'm usually disappointed by videogame music anywhere outside the context of a videogame. Sometimes I'll really enjoy the music in a game, download/rip it from somewhere and put it on my MP3 player, then I hear it on a bus or something and think "wait a minute, this is shit".

>>5 That is because when you are playing a game or watching a movie music is the catalyst that evokes the emotion of the game.
a lot of times when you here just the song after playing the game and it is not the same feeling it is because the music
was composed to help evoke the right feeling for the game.
a lot of the time it is the visual link that makes music better.
for example, the sound of an ominous choir. Just the osund alone might not be that great. but, now picture yourself in a grand hall filled with the flickering light of burning torches.
add a touch of danger brought by the villinous creature silhouetted by pale moon light.
Blood dripping slightly form the end of his blade.
(In my head this would be a cut scene to a battle)
Now the sound of the choir turns from ominous to a fully orchistraited panoply of anger and hatred to give purpose, a burn desire for the creature to taste your blade.
That is why music in games does not always sound the greatest after you have or have not played the game. It is the catalyst to emotion in the game.

zun does really good music. I also like all the Doujin CDs out there 3
Zelda: Ocarina of time... best i ever heard
Go Shiina…Tales of Legendia. LEGENDARY SOUNDTRACK FOR A NOT SO LEGENDARY GAME.
Excuse me for being a music asshole here, but Nobuo Uematsu, in my opinion has only a few memorable songs out of his extensive collection. :/ Most of it goes in one ear and out the other.
Nobuo Uematsu peaked with FF6 everything has been downhill from there. he should not be allowed near orchrestras.
anyway
Silent Hill 2
Tenchu Kurenai
some of the more recent Armored Core games
Resident Evil Outbreak
I like most super nintendo game's music does that make me a freak?
Sonic adventure 2 battle for the GC has some awesome soundtracks too, i love em'
>>14 Yes.
Beatmania IIDX!
S.S.T. Band/B-Univ make the best arcade racing music. Daytona, Outrun, SCUD race, and so many other Sega games.
Rival Schools is the best fighting game from Capcom, period.
oops wrong thread.
Kingdom Hearts 2 OST is pretty good, cept too many disney type songs in it....
"Nobuo Uematsu peaked with FF6 everything has been downhill from there. he should not be allowed near orchrestras"
Ouch dude, what gives you the right to pass such harsh judgement out on his work? Unless you've been as successful as he has, and are able to come up with a way to re-invent similar tunes for similar games every 2/3 years, I think you need to be a little more understanding!
How about Sega's "Michael Jackson Moonwalker".....
No? then Yuzo Koshiro deserves a mention.
Koshiro Yuzo did Wangan Midnight Maximum Tunes.
Koshiro Yuzo was a pupil of Hisaishi Jo.
Hisaishi is famous for Ghibuli movie's music.
We can find a lot in common.
Double Dragon II Arrange and F-Zero Guitar Arrange are super COOL.
Shout out to Takehiko Fujii for making GAMBOL.
Alex Brandon for the soundtrack to Deus Ex.
It was pretty amazing for its time, and still is.
>>23 your superior sarcasm is lost on me so i must take that as a flame on my internet opinions
I like Naoshi Mizuta, he did most of Final Fantasy XI's soundtracks :o
Me too. I find myself whistling the Selbina theme song even after i stopped playing a couple years ago
cave story theme song?
Whats funny is that as much as I do not like him, I actually just found a soundtrack that is pretty neat.

I don't think it's possible for instrumental music to be "pedo."

Chiyako Fukuda(.hack). Just because no one has mentioned him. Though other of my faves include Yasunori Mitsuda(Chrono,Xenogears), Kow Ohtani(Shadow of the Colossus), Akira Yamaoka(Silent Hill). Not to fond of Nobuo Uematsu and Koji Konda but I like some of there songs.
