We all know that lately game companies are running out of/too lazy to come up with original ideas for games and have been chugging remakes and sequels.
I say they should remake Super Smash TV
someone should remake lunar on a handheld, and do a decent bloody job of it this time. lunar legend was a load of arse.
Umihara Kawase
i think GTA should put back into old skool version cause that stuff was funn...
so easy to dodge bullets... now look at it, ur game freezes...
old reliable classics
Someone needs to give a development team a crate full of LSD and acid so I could have a "A Mind Forever Voyaging" sequel.

If they would remake shadowrun that was on the sega that would rock!! I loved that game.
>>20
doessn't need one. the game's basically perfect as it is, and it wouldn't really benefit much from a next-gen makeover
in fact, the kind of jagged look to it is part of the style of the game, i think
Chrono Trigger.
STARCRAFT
Romancing SaGa 3 on the DS would rock my balls off.
remake?...
any of the Downtown/Kunio series!
yep star craft would be really nice, i used to love that game
Mother. AKA Earthbound from the SNES. Heck having ALL the originals translated into English would be a start at least.
Lylatwars. AKA Starfox 64. Enough of the non-rails stuff Nintendo.
Definately remake Chrono Trigger. That was the first RPG I ever played, and it made me fall in love with the genre.
X-COM.
Jagged Alliance 2.
Descent.
Conflict: Middle East Political Simulator.
Bravo Romeo Delta.
NiGHTS into Dreams from the Sega Saturn. That game kicked ass.
No remakes please. 95% suck ass.
I think they are remaking NiGHTS? Or making a sequel? I forget.
DUCKHUNTER
This thread is full of jappafaggotry. Most of the suggested games for remake suck, and would suck even worse as remakes. Yes I played A LOT of the suggested games in this thread as a kid. I enjoyed them as a kid. But these games have not aged well.
and starcraft sucked a ducks dick
Needs more -good- western computer games like >>40 said

YES! DEFINATELY DUCK HUNT! They should remake it for the Wii, since it's interactive game and they can utilize the Wii controller as the shotgun ^_______^
A perfect plan. You people at Nintendo, use this idea!!!
system shock
Ha ha. Duck Hunt?
Except in the remake they should let you switch the guns so you can use a rocket launcher or something... (that way it can be rated M for mature because of all the blood and guts and all the smelly children can't play it!!)^-^ and the dog should be a robot thingy.... dog. o_O
And... different environments to hunt in!!
Like... uhh... Alaska, Sahara Desert, and Atlantis!
Yes and also...... nevermind, i forgot. O_o

Kanon. ;-)
I'm still waiting for that Illusion of Gaia sequel...

If they did age well, they wouldn't need remakes.
And since when does the country of origin of a game has anything to do with how well it aged?
Takeshi's Challenge
You know, I think SH1 should get a remake.
Mostly because if they don't ADD anything or take shit out--new graphics and a redone soundtrack could push the series even further. :D

This would be perfect for the Wii
Yeah, System Shock was ahead of its time - I'd like to see what they'd do with that game now.
Also, Zillion...
Ninja Golf.
Steel Reign. Online play a must.
World Heroes.
the game I fuck a thousand bitchs in a hour!
Tokyo Twilight Busters ported to anything but its original that crashed every fucking minute (read: PC-98).
In before Battletoads.
Segagaga BADLY needs a remake too.
Burning Rangers and Tech Romancer.
Yeah, Tech Romancer.
That arcade tank game TOKYO WARS.
I remember this one arcade having 8 of those things all linked up and it was fucking awesome.
A new arcade/console version with online play would be awesome.
Attack of the Mutant Camels.
I'd like to see a remake of Zork with a better parser.
Airheart, AutoDuel and Captain Goodnight from Apple IIe & IIc days.
The world needs a new Comic Party. Publishing my own doujins was great fun.
Also it would be interesting if someone remade Kanon in 3D using ILLUSION's game engine.
Seicross
All i can say here is:
Terranigma
>>70
I think the entire text adventure genre is due for a resurgence. Granted, it's a niche genre, and nothing would sell all that well, but it'd be great to see people like Neil Gaiman tackle the genre. Sort of how Douglas Adams cooperated in writing the HGTTG game.
>>76
The beauty is that it doesn't really need to sell all that well because it's so cheap to make compared to these multi-million dollar games.
>>76
Well, there is a nice active Interactive Fiction community on the net (see http://www.ifarchive.org/), nobody particularly famous participating though.
>>78
Yeah, I've known about that for a while. The yearly IF contests put out some great stuff.
Definitely Pokemon Yellow, Gold, and Silver.
Terranigma, Captain Tsubasa 2 and Monkey Island 2 :-)
Lunar Lander.
>>80
Jeez, just wait until the next nintendo console.
Commander Keen
Carmen Sandiego
Jazz Jackrabbit
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division
Real games that actually mattered.
Chrono Triggger XD
>>85
That game doesn't need a remake. It's fine as is.
No games need remakes, they were perfect as is. If you touch it, you'll only end up fucking it up anon.
probably the best games i can think of that should need a remake:
Vagrant Story
The First Silent Hill
The Original 8 bits Metal Gear
Alone in the Dark (PSOne)
Pong.
The gameplay is sooooooooo outdated
Only Pong got a remake fairly recently.
what about digger, and alley cat..?
>>89 If we remake Silent Hill, it will ruin it. Let them work on the new SH.
Shogo is good as-is. I would just make sequels.
FATAL! FURY!
Skies of Arcadia. To be fair, the gaming system was a little too standard, and group turn-based battling isn't the smartest idea in the world, but there was just something about that setting and the personalities of the characters that made it really endearing to me. I'd love to see a remake or a sequel.
Skies of Arcadia is recent enough that a remake would be mostly pointless - all it'd add is extra polygons, higher resolution, better textures and a few flashy effects. Far as I'm concerned a remake would only be worthwhile from PS1 era or earlier, because PS1-era 3D is balls-ugly by today's standards. PS2/Dreamcast 3D still holds up reasonably well.
MISCHIEF MAKERS.
Metroid 2. PLEASE.
Gunstar Heroes. Why? Because Gunstar Super Heroes isn't half as good.
Also, Comix Zone for Genesis/Mega-Drive. It was probably the first game to actually incorporate the comic book gimmick all throughout the game.
>>100
Ahoy, Treasure fan! I second your recommendation.
In case Square is stalking this thread, FFVII was perfect already, please don't remake it. kthx
Metroid 2 and Super Mario Land.
>>108
It was as graphically clunky then as it is now.
Why they even bother trying polygons when they couldn't do it right is beyond me. I blame the corporate-executization of the games industry and reliance on buzz words to sell games.
3D!
Multimedia!
Action-Packed!
>>109
Heh, graphically clunky? Frankly, being in 3D allowed Square to tell that story in a way that couldn't be done on the SNES. And face it, nearly every game up to and beyond FFVII was "graphically clunky" to a fault. it's just how games were back then. But look on the bright side. ... They (gaming industry as a whole) did get better about it. Does FFVII need a remake? Of course not. What could a remake to a modern game like that do that would enhance it? "Nothing"'s the only right answer there.
I want to see a remake of Colony Wars. I remember that game being pretty fun. If someone could make Omega Boost a good game, that'd be nice to see too.
>>110
I think Final Fantasy VII would really do well from a graphical update, since most players these days would find it hard to play this game as its graphics are so bad now.
Isn't FF just a few hours of FMV with a few minutes of gameplay? And perhaps 10 seconds of unique gameplay, which is to say that once you've seen one menu you've seen them all.
>>112
Heh, a few hours of Square's FMV would be fantastic, they really are skilled about it. But alas, that's not the case. I think in the FFs I've played, there probably isn't more than a half hour's worth of actual FMV to watch, though there's tons of cutscenes. And menu-based combat is old like you suggest, but Square does change it up every game as of late, to keep it from getting boring. FF7 had the Limit Breaks and the materia system, FF8 had that Draw system, and so on. Personally, FF has never been about the gameplay in the first place.
Final Fantasy Legend I, II and III.
They where awesome.
>>114
They remade the first one on the Wonderswan. I think they're also doing a remake for the DS.
that how we can brag to our grandson how good the game was
Actually square is planning of a prequel to FFVII for psp. I am not sure about the name or if it is already out.
One thing is sure, we all dreamed of fighting along with Sephiroth. Now we can!
it's called Crisis Core, I think it's out in Japan, but not the US. And you don't get Sephiroth, you play as the Turks -- Reno and Rude.
I think FF7 as well as a lot of other games got more credit than they deserve because they were 3D. FF7 wasn't all that. After you leave Midgar, 80% of the quests were "Hey dumbass, Sephiroth went thataway!" "ZOMG We have to get Sephiroth". That isn't a mindblowing story. Shinra and the Turks were much more interesting, but they were dropped for the most part after the first 5 hours.
The cast of characters were pretty bad.
I don't see what everybody likes Aeris for. She's one of those sickeningly sweet characters that have no thoughts of their own. She existed to be cute, and if Sephy hadn't killed her, I think I'd have wanted to. Josef (FF2j), Tellah (FF4), and General Leo (FF6) were better. They had actual thoughts and opinions, they had a reason for being around.
Barret came off like a Stormfag's wetdream -- a jive-talking dumbass negro stereotype with questionable parenting skills (Hey 4-year old Marlene, watch my bar. I'll be back... someday), poor self-control, and a gun welded to his arm. Way to go Square.
Tifa had no personality, and neither did Cloud. They had a nice little acid trip backstory, but even then, Cloud just never seems to have a personality. He doesn't seem too upset to find out his life is a lie. He's pretty matter-of-fact even after his supposed girlfriend is stabbed through the heart.
I never said that you play Sephiroth, I heard that you fight along with Sephiroth as Zack. But anyway a friend told me that, so I guess you know better.
As for all the rest. I kind of agree with you but I also think that you have a prejudice for FF7. Yes FF7 was one of the first "3D" and it also had those FMV videos (I am not sure about the name) I also think that FF7 became so popular because it was one of the first rpgs all those people ever played. Usually the first thing you play you get attached to it. Furthermore, FF7 may not had the most interesting cast of characters but it definately had fun gameplay because of the awesome materia system and the battles, which also was so different of the repetitive class system the previous had. Anyway FF7 was great and there is no doubt about it.
