I work at EBgames. What's your problem with the store?

They were my favorite!

Now it's just a place for old used games, I go there and all I find are boxes of games with stickers on them and the whole place just lost it's flavor.

Well it has been taken over by Gamestop which could have had a negative effect on how you view the store. The stickers are annoying but at least they are easier to take off then they used to be.

Selling used games is the way that Gamestop/EBgames makes the majority of their profits so it's not ever going to go away. It is kind of bad that their isn't a higher emphasis on taking in used games that are in better condition but if people keep buying them then they'll continue to do it.

If you don't want to go there anymore then I'd suggest getting games off of Amazon.com if you ever order online. Also there's Bestbuy and other big chains like Target, Walmart, etc.

If you want to find a place with better quality and a higher variety of used games then try your local flea market.

Hopefully this helps.

Speaking of used stuff... I really wonder what some people do with their games. I don't treat mine with any special care or anything, but they're all in pretty decent condition - most have no or very light scratches on the discs, maybe a few marks on the boxes if they've been left lying around on tables and stuff but nothing major.

But almost always when I buy a used game (whether from a chain store, independent shop or eBay), the disc is always covered in scratches, the manual looks like someone's wiped their arse with it and the box is scuffed to hell.

People that don't care for the state of their purchases may be more likely to try and get rid of them sooner by reselling them.
Perhaps some of those used games were stolen (perhaps from a rental chain, which would explain the poor condition) and sold to a retail store?

A lot of the time it's children who trade in there scratched games. When I take them in I usually have to add refurbishing fees on most on them because they are in such poor condition. (´・ω・`)

The way that we tell if a game should be sent in to be refurbished or not would be if there are deep scratches that you can feel with your nail, tons of small scratches, the ring scratch that some 360s produce..

Otherwise we take them if they are a little scratched, as long as they can be played then we don't charge an extra fee for the scratches. There is also like a 30 day return policy if it doesn't work when you buy a used game.

You might have a good point on them being stolen but I doubt thats the case with the majority of the scratched games.

Hey! My 360 made one of those ring scratches on my copy of Oblivion (I didn't know other folks had this problem).
Do all 360s have this problem, or is it something older models do? And can this problem be fixed?
Oblvion doesn't work~!

Do not move the 360 AT ALL when it is powered on. Movement of the system while a disc is in it is probably the cause of the problem.

If you have it standing vertically and hit the table or whatever it's on then it'll wobble causing the disc to scratch.

Even subwoofers cause the disc to move so move it farther away from the console if it is right next to it.
