What are some good games to enjoy with a friend?
I personally like co-op games because you don't have to worry if the two people are at different skill levels. Metal Slug is a good example.
Mario Kart (for SNES or 64) is also fun, though it's not co-op.

Multiplayer games.
There's that popular one...
Gears of War. Don't know if the co-op mode can compete with the vs. multiplayer.
Most RTS's can be played co-op versus an AI opponent, but who wants to do that when you can play against humans? So, my bet, play 2v2 matches, with your friend on your team. : )
Crystal Chronicles is good but much better with 4.
System Shock 2 is often brought up for coop. It's a bit dated, but there are fan-made mods that upgrade the models and textures. The Secret of Mana games are also supposed to be good played together with others, but I haven't had a chance to try.
I'd really have loved to have a friend or two to play Secret of Mana with when i went through it back in the day- i've always preferred multiplayer in the same room- i never really took to online play that much.

Same, to be honest I don't like online at all unless I am talking with a friend. It just seems like you don't get the whole experience of yelling/laughing/throwing the controller on the ground without someone being there with you.
Also, Super Smash Brothers: Melee, but that should be a given.

You can play on the same team vs. cpu team.
I used to do that a lot with friends, like "attack of the giant green monkeys". Playing against a numerically superior (in terms of lives) team of green Donkey Kong.
with 6 metal slug games out now how can u ask for more...
SHUMPS r fun
Mushihimesama
castle of shikigami
gunbird
and why not one of the touhou games
Double Dragon 2
Contra
Dungeon and Dragons (arcade game by Capcom)

Oi, I'm distracted enough when I'm navigating through a maze of bullets... pretty amazing if you can play with a partner : p
Halo is fun with two players. My friend used to throw sticky grenades on me and have me run into crowds of the enemy on harder difficulty levels. Very effective!
I can't believe no one has said Bomberman yet.
That and Mashed.
Oh man! How could we forget Bomberman?!?
Seconded!
I also forgot Guardian Heroes- 6-player arena mode, or the two- player co-op is fantastic.
Warhammer. Got to move it.
Vampire Counts vs Orcs/Goblins. Who doesn't want a mage that explodes when they fail a spell? It's genius.
But Warhammer is obviously not a video game (unless you are talking about Dawn of War, which I dislike...). If you are talking video games exclusively, the only one that I really play multiplayer that hasn't already been said is Neverwinter Nights. It's old, and only costs $20 at most, but it's good fun if your friends get it too.
Anyone know if Monster Hunter Freedom is good with multiple people? My friend has it on his PSP, and i was considering getting it so that we can go hunting together. Also, does anyone know if the US version can connect with the Euro verson in this way? It LOOKS like it'd be great fun in multiplayer.
I would like to see more wii coop games.

Double Dragon 2 is epic with two players. Also it can be really intense and hilarious when 2P-B is on. So much fucking fun.

another fun 1 is burnout 3 in crash mode!!! so sick!!! :)
I can't believe nobody's said Halo 2.
Also, Diablo II. Free online play FTW.
