What is everyone's expereience with a PSP? I already know about emulation (which will go totally to playing nintendo games) and I have a DS as well, which I still love to play.
UMD = useless? annoying buying back your old PS1 games?
Load times = pace killing? intolerable?
Battery Life = nonexistant?
controls = hand numbing?
Above statements = false\true?
Also, what kinds of games are there that you tend to enjoy the most? some good examples of PSP only's? Also, should I splurge and get the PSPLite instead of some used PSP (i really like that TV hookup thing)
And, finally, after buying a PSP, did you regret it at all?
thanks for your input, here's a picture of me: (o_O)
I, personally, love my PSP. I can play games, watch movies/videos, browse the Internet, all without moving from my hobbit hole.
People that bitch about the battery life are stupid, it's not that bad. The iPod's battery life is worse (in my case, at least). Just don't forget to charge it overnight and you're fine.
I've heard that the PSP Lite is alright, but probably not worth buying if you already own a PSP. However, since you don't, it might be a good idea.
nods nods
well, we've got some yea's now... any nae's?
its more or less dead already[no games on its way worth even a look]
the few games that are interesting have not been released outside japan
its heavey
it rather ugly
if u want too look at movies on a tiny screan when u got a pc right beside u...seek help...[i know a person who does this and he is not... well]
any must-play games for the PSP?
depend on what kind of game do you prefer... i digg crisis core :)
I'm kinda into a wide range, although I guess i prefer rpg's and tactics games.
speaking of homebrew, though, would it be better to buy a used PSP rather than buying a new\used PSP Slim?
In my personal opinion the PSP was a waste of my money. There are only a few games that would even be worth purchasing (Gradius and Guilty Gear). Other than that I feel that the games are over priced. Also it's kind of a dying system besides the new release in JP [red]. If you are really looking for a portable system, I would suggest going with Nintendo on this one. ^_^
I'll probably buy a used PSP (original) when the price drops to around £50. Then I'll just pick up the 10 or so PSP games I'm interested in, and install a hacked firmware so I can play PS1 ISOs on it.
hmmm... I might, then, consider going to some pawn shops to pick up a used one - they're genrally cheaper. or, i might just use my monies to buy up some PS2, WII, and DS games I've been looking forward to. I love my DS, and seeing how not fun it is to do homebrew now that Sony's been cracking down on it (plus the fact i don't know anyone who owns a PSP let alone homebrewed capable one to use the pandora's battery)
it's funny - probably the only reason it got as many sales as it did was so people could play their emulated Nintendo Games!
its a good console, ive had one since it came out. wipeout pure is great, gta is a pretty solid game as well, the worms franchise is on it if thats your forte. providing you can work it out the whole homebrew game emulation thing is a must have, wether its mario or sonic for you i think that makes it worth the money. The battery life is what you would expect, about 5 hours of games which should be enough.
well, I've decided to forgo the PSP in lieu of purchasing Soul Nomad & the world eaters, plus many SNES, NES, N64, DS, and GBA games - rather than add to the systems I need to collect games for. Now if I could only find a copy of Spike McFang...
Get a PSP, put custom firmware on it, play homebrew and PS-x games. The price is pretty reasonable now, and there's a handful of decent games for it, plus a HUGE backlog of games for other systems. I'd say go for it.
