A question regarding fonts in H-games (3)

I've noticed while checking my collection for what works on XP that some games seem to have problems with the fonts. Even relatively new games like X-change 3 seemed to use a font that didn't fit in the text box (still readable since it stretches out on top of the buttons).

I was mostly wondering if anyone had heard of a solution for this. It seems to me like these games should be using fonts that are in your windows directory, and that said fonts seem to be in windows 95/98 but missing in XP (or at least my installation of XP). At least that is what I'm suspecting.

So if anyone has heard of a solution or know of someplace to check for old windows 95/98 fonts it would be nice to know.

Download all the fonts from 95/98 and put them in your xp font folder

That was my idea, though I couldn't find them (and I don't have an old CD lying around either).

However I noticed that I had skipped some warning note during installation that said that text could appear wrong if not used with applocale or changing the uni-code settings to Japanese.

It seemed to help, but it feels a bit odd that it couldn't pick the right font without applocale. I guess it is some case about selecting "standard" fonts and that the "standard" selection is different depending on which language it thinks you use.
