Is this legit/useful? Anyone tried it? it's supposed to speed up your wii connection and some say it works well to get rid of the horrible lag that can plague some SSB Brawl matches.
Why would a computer be doing a DNS lookup in the middle of a match? Surely it would make more sense to look up the server really early on and then use the IP address from thereon.
Umm... What exactly is it supposed to improve? If you're online I'd assume you're okay until you disconnect and get a new DNS.
I always use OpenDNS on my computer, it gives a significant boost to internet performance—there's virtually zero lag time for DNS lookups, which I assume would mean, on the Wii or any other console, a significant decrease in connection delay.
I'm still skeptical.
It does seem to be about as fast as our ISP, but looking at the way the Internet is laid out, even if OpenDNS is so "fast", can't the ISP just be a proxy to OpenDNS, making the ISP fastest again? Surely any packets travelling a shorter distance will be faster than a packet travelling all the way to the nearest OpenDNS server, which, I might add, there are none of on our continent.
None of you understand how the internet works.
Jesus.
All a DNS server does is when you type in a domain name, say "4-ch.net" it will tell your browser the IP of that domain, say '66.135.54.100' so it knows where to connect to, that is all it does, nothing more there is no way it could speed up your SSB connection during a match.
