let's talk about dragon quest! or dragon warrior! whatever. it's the most popular rpg in japan, does it deserve to be? and what do you think of the DQIX going to the DS? should they have stuck to the original action-rpg plan?
oh and spinoffs! i love the spinoffs. i've sunk loads of time into DQM/Joker and Rocket Slime despite never particularly getting into the main series. maybe that's because the spinoffs are on a handheld and i don't have time to play much on a console anymore. so.lets wait for the DS versions of IV/V/VI?
didn't like the VIII on ps2, SO BORING.
Honestly I love DQ games but I'm not sure why; they really haven't changed the formula at all but I've been playing all the US releases since DQ1 on NES.
i love DQ
i have all 4 famicom games[complete with box, manual and random stuff inside][i know japanese so its not just like i collect the stuff]
i dont like 5 and 6 at all[im not sure why]
i have 7 but i dont like it at all
the SD or chibi^ish feeling made me hate it also Children as chars is never a good idea
8 is awesome
9 looks like 7[SD + children] so im afraid im not gonna like it
also
>>3 if it aint broken dont fix it
DQIV-VI remakes are coming over here. I can't wait.
Just restarted 3.
Hero, Fighter, Thief, Cleric
Class changed everyone a while back, but I haven't played since then.
I'm not so sure if DQ really is the most popular RPG series in Japan. Most Japanese people I ask about it say it's at least equal to FF. Either way, I just love to play the old NES DW games and i'm not exactly sure why. Especially the first one is such an utterly repetitive grindfest, but for me, it somehow works.
DQ 5 is my favorite, mostly cause I love the SNES. I never got that far into 6 because the transaltion at the time was horrible, haven't tried it since. I'll just get the GBA version when it comes out.
DQ will always have a place in my heart as its the first RPG I ever played way back with the Dragon Warrior.
And with FF's last few installments, I've been really disapointed, but DQ has never let me down.
