So, in this thread we put games that we remember for being able to make us cry, or yell at the screen because the bad guy was terribly mean, and stuff like that.
I'll start with Unreal 2: The Awakening. Shed tears on the epilogue.
Also, Bioshock, and it's fantastic plot twist.
Spoilers ahead.
Metal Gear Solid 1 : Sniper Wolf's death scene always touches me, every goddamn time...just beautiful
Metal Gear Solid 3 : The Entire ending (starting from Boss's speech, Boss's Death, Eva telling the truth, Snake's new title Big Boss and eventually the one that really hit hard..snake shedding a tear at her grave).
Shadow hearts 2 : Yuri's failed revival of his soul mate, him seeing crying and the ending where only death could free him and reunite with "her".
Final Fantasy 7 : Aerith's Dead, Barret's Past with Dyne was awesome and very tragic.
Yume Nikki: Ending: Her killing herself really fucked me up for an entire day:s
Final Fantasy X: Awesome ending.
etc etc
Well, i don't remember it very well, but there was a game for the NES, where i'm pretty sure you had some kinda big drilling machine and you were going through the Earth, and learning about Lemuria. Anyway, earlier in the game, you lost a crewmember, but later he comes back, and you have no choice but to kill him because he came back brainwashed trying to kill you. That really made me sad, and the ending didn't help either.
Yume Miru Kusuri.
The strangling scene is addictive.
MOTHER, especially the ending.
Far Cry 2's ending was kind of confusing but morally interesting.
Silent Hill Series
The games were quite emotive for me....
Metal Gear Solid 1 through 4.
You literally feel the D:
The part in metal gear solid where Meryl is shot bo sniper wolf.
MAFIA for PC
That game is underrated anyway, was a refreshing game in comparison with the GTA series, and I love both
Crimson Sea 2
or should I say, it tried to be dramatic, but it failed so hard it turned into some crappy game you want to beat solely so that you don't have to play it anymore
Homeworld. Tears come up everytime I hear that damn adagio now.
Mass Effect. SPOILER when you have to make a choice on who to leave on the planet about to blow up /SPOILER
Deus Ex. So many times. Actually it's probably one of the most emotionally charged games I ever played because it hit on so many different ways.
Arcanum. Had some very nice twists, and the characters were really getting to you. The ending was bittersweet. I liked it a lot.
cave story. i have no idea why i felt sad/cried but for some reason... i think it was the music.
I nearly cried at the end of Dawn of Mana. Everyone fucking died. Not to mention by your hand. The very last scene after the credits where it plays all the scenes from the game is rather emotional, and the music makes it worse. Its kind of like a nostalgia for the Mana series in general, which has some sappy themes, together with the memories of the game itelf. My eyes watered a little, but no actual tears rolling down my face.
The music, yeah. Two parts in that game for me.
-When I first played it, I didn't know about
the rope
. She died. I baww'd.
-Also, the baby dragon zombies. THEY'RE CRYING BLOOD, MAN. POOR BABIES.
Mother 3, anyone?
That game is so sad, and I'm barely even started!
I cannot agree, more. You watch all these happy relationships that Keldric has with everyone in the first half and the whole second half is spent tearing them apart until the very end cutscene where he's seen all alone. I can't think of a game where I felt sorrier for the main character.
