Did you mean how to motivate yourself to keep going or how to stop?

Keep going: Already here, so I might as well.
Stop: Getting tired, [show on TV is on], or some other thing.

Hmm, good question... Well usually I will stop playing it for like a month, and then go back to finishing it, so I guess I really don't motivate myself to finish it.

I don't think you should. doing so can only result in a continued dislike in the game, or of playing games in general.

I don't know how many times I got sick of playing Star Ocean 2 so many years ago, until finally after like the 7th time of restarting it (after an urge came upon me to start again and again and again) I finally beat it by twinking out Claude near the end when it becomes a big grindfest.

Granted it did become a grindfest, but I love Star Ocean's battle system that it never became a problem for me. Apart from the final boss being completely gay...

Beat all the all the other games you have, run out of money to buy new ones, and go on a game finishing marathon!
