Okay, okay, timeline C, wait the fuck up.

In Wind Waker "you", the player, play as a boy white a green shirt and blond hair growing up on a island village. "You" are not link. You are just a boy. Also did I mention the BOY part at all? Even if this WAS Link, how can he be living out his life as an adult here? The player character in Wind Waker is a boy. As in not an adult.

Is there something I'm missing here?

Not really. Almost every forum got the OoT splitting into several timelines right. It's almost like Nintendo just lurked those forums and copy pasted its content.
