[Jobs] Tips for getting employed? [Help] (8)

So, anyone have tips to help us jobless students and NEET to get employed?

For instance, how should we dress? What kind of questions should we ask during interviews?

Personally, I don't think I ever get past the initial employment test, when they have all the questions such as "Taking action on your own is important. Choose from 1 if you strongly disagree with this up to 5 if you strongly agree with this."

During those times I usually just pick in the middle, thinking they would think I'm lazy if I picked the lowest, and that I wouldn't follow commands if I picked the highest.

Help please!~

I imagine this only applies if you're in school, but most universities have some sort of Career Services department you can go talk to. They have stuff on how to find what kind of job you'd be good at, advice on how to dress, what questions to ask, help with job placement, etc. Lot of good information, really. I have an appointment with them for next week to get my resume reviewed... they really do offer a lot of good services, if you can take advantage of them.

On your resume, be sure to address your favorite videogame and sexual orientation. You have to make sure that you go to the interview naked.

Don't wear torn jeans, don't wear a goutee if you're a guy - Don't wear old shoes, don't bring your ipod along, don't make spelling errors on your on-site application, don't include your resume, don't tell them anything, I repeat don't tell them anything, and don't smile, it makes you look like you actually want the job, and don't by any means, turn over the keys to your car to the dealership you bought it from... :) I'm telling you - this is absolutely how not to get a job. Do everything else the author tells you, and you might get somewhere someday.

well, i mostly agree with your point, but i would like to note that i recently got a job, while wearing a beat up second hand coat, my ipod, holding a skateboard, torn up backpack, the most beat up vans i've ever had etc.

i still got the job, either via my immense wit and charisma

or the fact that this is one of those dumpy indie haunts (you know, a cafe where noone buys anything and everything smells of smoke, you can actually peel the tar off the walls)

Important things:

PERSISTANCE! Call back about the application, do not wait for a response. They will probably tell you "So and so who does that is on vacation." Get a date they will be back and call then, or show up in person on that date to follow up. The job frequently goes to the one who seems to want it most, and this way the person choosing will at least remember you when choosing between several people with the same qualilfications. Do not give up until you get an interview scheduled.

CLOTHES: The most important thing is that they are clean and normal. (aka not looking gothy or otaku-ish whatever.) Jeans are not recommended, but this really depends on the job. If it's a job where you'd wear a suit to work everyday, you should probably wear a suit. Hygine in general is important.

CONFIDENCE: Important in general! Think about what questions you might get asked before the interview. Stuff specific to the job such as how to deal with different problems on the job.

As far as the ones where you have to fill out the little computerized form to annalyze your work type or whatever they call it... Most are pretty obvious, just tell them what they want to hear. Such as "taking action on your own", I would choose a for disagree. Because they value teamwork, but you can act on your own at times. Just think about what they want to hear. When you're stumped, be honest and try not to overthink it.

Good luck, NEET! I've had a ton of different jobs so I've been through a lot of interviews, hopefully this is helpful.
