[Employment] Help me get a job [Money] (4)

I graduated from high school more than a year ago, live with my parents and have never had a job. I want to move on, but getting a decent job seems to be so difficult. Everywhere you go they want you to give like 5 references, and I don't know what to put down, because I've never worked before, and my friends are all students who mostly haven't worked either, so I can't put them down. Tell me, 4-ch, what should I do? Where should I look for decent entry-level work?

Maybe at a bookstore? It's definately entry-level work, but it's certainly a little more classy than flipping burgers. And it could be a decent step up to something better.

Good luck, Anonymous!

Bookstores are good. Out of all the jobs I had, I think I was most comfortable in a bookstore job.

Now I'm a freelance artist, so I can work in my underwear. You don't know comfort until you've put in 8 hours on a project before getting dressed for the day.

For references, if your parents have any adult friends who know you, you can sometimes put down their names, especially if you actually did any jobs for them (although that's not needed).

In a developing area, where exurbs and suburbs are being built, it's easy to get a job at a surveyor firm without any experience needed. It can be mentally dulling but you make money.

You could also try call centers, telemarketing firms, etc. Places like these and the above almost always hire people without job experience! Don't worry about a job history; as long as you try to talk to the person in charge of hiring and give him/her an impression of a good worker, you will get hired.
