what's the best option for shaving. to use the razor with cream, electric razor or one of those hybrid cream electric razors?
mach 3 turbo
The mach# line works really well for me, but I'm shaving my legs, etc. The Venus femclones work, but I don't know if there is a functional difference that would make it poor for shaving your face.
be a man and use a straight razor
I'm black, so shaving is a hassle.
If I use a disposable razor and cream, I always get razor burn, which hurts like hell. Not to mention, it just grows back in a day or two, and I'm too lazy to shave every day. Although, I can say that the Mach 3 Turbo in one of the best.
I usually just use an electric razor/trimmer to trim down to a Five o’clock shadow every now and then, or keep a beard for a while.
From what I've read though, Straight Razor + Warm shave is the best for everyone. I haven't been able to find one, though I never really looked.
I have one of those $160 Remington Titanium razors that I got for free. Fun story: There was a store called Dirt Cheap near a school I used to live at, it's one of those stores that gets all of the damaged/overstock stuff (though I doubt more than 5% is overstock). A bunch of people in my school shoplifted from there or switched price tags. I did it once, getting an mp3 player that would have been $60 for like $2.50 (I switched the price tag with one from a little wicker basket HA!). I really wanted that razor but I couldn't do it again because I'm a coward, so I got this guy that had stolen literally thousands in merchandise from there to get it for me. He was crazy! Like he put a cheap price on a big humidifier and put a bunch of mp3 players in the box too. That guy had guts. And he never got caught!
PUNCHLINE: He got arrested in New York for shoplifting a bag of chips from Wal-Mart. LOL
Anyways I use that. It isn't the closest shave, but it's fast and it works!
In a way I'm fortunate, since my facial hair doesn't grow very fast - I usually just take the guard off of a beard trimmer and go over my face with that. As >>6 said, it isn't perfect, but it's quick and painless. I use a Mach 3 Turbo as well, which works pretty good as long as the blade is fresh.
Anyone use those crazy 'vibrating' razors they sell now? Any good?
I have used the vibrating razor on my legs, and I actually found it to work better then a regular razor. (I think I had used one from the same brand before that.) I've switched to waxing though.
guys wax? o_O hmm it seems using a straight razor seems to be the best. though often when it's 5 in the morning
1) i don't really trust myself with a sharp blade
2) i'm in a rush so that doesn't add to the saftey/wellbeing factor
hehe. perhaps i should use electric and razor for special occasions? hmmm

I actually found the vibrating razor to work worse, on the face at least. Because you know, when you're shaving you can FEEL if you've gotten an area completely smooth. With the vibrating though, you can't tell. So I always ended up missing spots.
>>10 A Finnish newspaper tested different razors and found the mach 3 vibrating one to be the best. However - the vibration had no effect, so it was best just because it was good with the vibration turned on.
The fact that those things seem to have a "recommended brand" of batteries should be a good pointer to who exactly thought up these things.

I don't understand. do you mean "turned off"?
Mach3 something here
LASERS
I shave in the shower using my grandfather's old Gilette safety razor, from before the war. It's heavy, stainless steel, and it uses those rectangular razor blades from before disposable razors and plastic cartridges.
I use dishwashing liquid. Dawn isn't just for dishes any more, yo.
It gets me a better shave with less irritated skin than anything else I've tried.
So they're up to FIVE blades now. This is getting ridiculously close to the SNL skit.

And the Onion did a parody article about it two years ago, to boot.

actually the fusion has 6 blades, 5 on side and 1 on the other for precision shaving. seriously, why cant we stop shaving and grow manly beards.
A sharp rock
Single blades are the only ones I can safely use. The others irritate my skin, and cause complications like ingrown hair etc.
