Anime Expo '06?
Not everyone lives in amiland.
I'll be at MidSouthCon this year, lol.
I'll even wear my 4-ch shirt.
How 'bout A-kon 17?
How many people you think are on this forum?
I dunno, 13...?
>13...?
I'm not going. So, twelve at most.
lol i mean in total, not just going to that meet
I'll be at otakon!
I'll be at ACEN, and hopefully Otakon too. I was at Sugoicon this year, and will be again next year.
anime boston! or otakon
You people must live in weird places nowhere near me.
...
Probably for the best.
heh, east coasters
>>14 Nvm I see it is for everything BUT anime. I might go just for laughs :_(
i'll be at animeboston 2006
It's the best the area offers. :( Yes, the anime part of it is going to suck... my club is the one responsible for a lot of it. :( Still, I'm a fan of Glen Cook so it won't be a total wash.
SCREW ALL THESE ANIMAY-CONS
I say we meet-up in the Subway off interstate 75
>>17 Well if I see you in your 4-ch shirt I will be sure to acknowledge your existence without coming into any sort of contact with you like a true zero-social-skills anime fan :'(
Let's meet at Squeek's house!
>>20 Neither do I. I just assumed that somehow, somewhere there could be a Subway off of I-75
But seriously. If there's a 4-ch meetup we should do it in style. None of this anime-convention crap. We need to meet at a denny's.
>>24 made me giggle imagining the stares of the normal denny's residents
i don't suppose that any of you live near colorado/kansas
i don't suppose that any of you live near washington, dc
i don't suppose that any of you live in afghanistan?
I don't suppose that any of you live in Sweden
I'd go to a meet anywhere in north america
I'd go to a meet anywhere in south america.
>We need to meet at a denny's.
Wearing laughing man masks.
>>29
Malmö.
You? Let me guess.. way up north? I'm not really keen on coughing up cash for travelling to a meet somewhere up north. I'm a poor student, I'm staying put. But if you pop by at the Malmö festival, do mention that.
Megacon 2006 is in a week if anyone wants to plan on meeting up there!
Cool, someone else lives in TidewaterHampton Roads
I'll be at Anime Expo. If you guys want to set up a meet im down, would be cool to meet some of the 4ch residents.
Malmö, jag också.
>>33
Göteborg
I don't really feel like going anywhere for a meet either but it seems you already have a fellow 4-cher in Malmö :)
Otakon is having an Annonymous BBS discussion panel!
>>43
Wear a self made headband with "4ch" on it ▼・ェ・▼
I support the act of people on the internet meeting each other and doing things away from the computer.
Thank christ none of you lot are in Brisbane. Except that jerk who keeps stalking me :(
How about a meetup in NYC, we can get Japanese food and then hit the town (i.e. Go back home to our computers.)
yeah meet @ NYC and wear "4ch" headbands
AFAIK conventions are for sweaty beardos confirm/deny?
The smell of body odor at conventions is reason enough not to go. I mean I enjoy anime and such, but the last time I went to a convention, I left feeling very guilty about my hobbies.
Is there a reason why people at anime conventions have personal hygiene issues?
>>51
some of them don't feel like paying for a hotel?
OP, here. I was at AX '06, and din't really run into any smelling people.
Anyone here go to that *ch(an) meet? I couldn't make it.
age for otakon and anonymous bbs discussion panel thing
It was pretty cool. 4-ch wasn't mentioned at all and not a lot of people showed up. They talked about why anon bbs are good and showed flash movies like natsumi step, sage man, ect and talked about AA characters. The people on the panel were funny and seemed cool. The audience seemed mostly interested in 4chan. I didn't think of any good questions to ask till after the panel. (´・ω・`)
I dunno.. they probably introduced themselves, I don't really remember.
It's a shame 4-ch wasn't mentioned.
>>58
I disagree. If 4-ch was mentioned we would be flooded by morons that go to /b/ and think it's funny to constantly yell memes at cons.
>>59
I don't think there was enough people there to really flood this board :( A girl asked the panelists what a good site would be to start anonymous posting since she had never done it, and they basically ignored the question, and a couple audience members made cracks about how seeing 4chan would gross her out or whatever. I was too much of a wuss to pipe up and say anything though.
So am I! You're not the only one, 63!:)
There are anime conventions in Islamabad? That's kind of... hm awesome.
I just watched the Otakon panel video and it was pretty gay, as expected. Highlight was the Snacks is Back segment. It wasn't as funny as the guy shouting Snacks sucks for the entire time at some earlier panel, though.
I am still downloading it. I was pretty bummed I couldn't get in, but I guess for some people that was the main reason they went to otakon so they lined up really early. Oh well, I got in last year and there is always next year!
Next year we're having a fucking secret 4-ch panel in the hall.
The hall with the boats!
You know the one.
ok I'll totally be there
that could work, however that area is usually crowded
At the anon panel, one of the panelists mentioned an interesting spam control method. Having a text entry box invisible to the users labeled "e-mail". A spam bot would see it when scanning the site and fill it out, so any posts that enter text in that box are marked as spam. Not really sure how you would go about making the invisible text entry box, but it's something to think about! But you programer types probably already know about this method I guess.
>>72
how about the balcony outside of where they had the rave? that balcony's usually got like ten people smoking on it but otherwise it's empty
>>73
Yep, Kareha does it already:

we need to have a crazy hotel party 4-ch style
