There's a lot of Shinto ceremony in Japanese government, but Shinto isn't a dogmatic religion like Christianity. That's one of the reasons I will live in Japan.

I also like how Japanese are generally accepting of homosexuality, at least to the extent where gays aren't beaten to death in the backcountry. Even though the US will probably allow gay marriage before Japan, Japan as a whole seems more sympathetic. Just look at HAADO GEI's popularity, as compared to Will and Grace (ignore Brokeback, it's a movie not an ongoing thing).

Only thing I don't like is the closemindedness of most Japanese. Oh well.
