[Physical] Getting in shape [Sweaty] (38)

1 Name: Anonymous : 2006-08-25 21:11 ID:/AjvpzKY

My current physique is about 6'4, 300. Most of the weight is in my frame (big boned), but I am somewhat chubby. Most if not all of the excess weight is in my torso. (orz)

I want to become in shape for multiple reasons. For one, I am single, and would like to rectify this. My past 3 relationships have all been with girls I've deemed "average or better" in terms of appearance - and I have a pretty low standard of average. I've realized that I would like to do better than this, and believe that the problem is not related at all to my personality but rather to my physical appearance.

On the other hand (and this is the reason this wasn't posted in /love/), I would like to become more healthy. I would like for my body to perform better across the board; for instance, I play DDR, and I also believe most of my limitations there to be because of my weight. I would also like to be able to run faster, jump higher, et cetera. I have no interest in competitive sports, but it'd be nice to be able to keep up in a game of ultimate frisbee (and for those of you who don't know what that is, and like physical games, LOOK IT UP. You'll love it, I promise. It's basically football mashed up with frisbee)

Anyway, have any of you turned yourselves from a flabby NEET into a running, jumping, girl-winning VIP? I would like to be the latter.

Haha, no replies yet. 4-ch is full of fatties.

You should ask gramps in DQN

Your metabolism increases by about 6% with each degree, so I suggest you start by putting on a couple sweat shirts. Most drinks have alot of calories in them, so I would stick to drinking water. As far as food goes, stick something that has zero or negative calories. Celery is good, but grass or tree bark also work. Consume nothing but these things, and within two weeks you're sure to be attractive and/or mad with scurvey.

I've seen plenty of bigger people that kick ass in DDR, so that's no reason for your shortcomings in it.

Losing weight is no easy task. You have to burn up more calories than you take in. You'll have to change your diet...permanently. Not temporarily, that's why most put the weight back on. They don't realize a diet is something permanent. If you want to be more athletic though, you'll have to start working out, and it should help you lose weight. There's plenty of info on the web about exercise, look it up.

NOT a good idea. You're more likely to kill yourself from overheating, and there isn't any increase in metabolism from outerwear. Just do more aerobic exercise to increase it.

See >>5 for good info.

why are americans so fat ?
is there anything to do in place of eating?

9 Name: Anonymous : 2006-08-27 12:06 ID:Heaven

Since when did OP say he's American? A person of any nationality can be fat, given the right conditions.

10 Name: Anonymous : 2006-08-27 15:44 ID:Heaven

>>9
I think >>8 probably made a valid assumption.
fat + speaks English = American in most cases
Time will tell if >>1 is actually American

I don't think stereotyping holds any kind of validity.

heh, I'm American and a computer geek.

And yet I'm 145 Lbs, 5'10.

It seems like geeks can fall into two categories of physical being: either fat or very skinny, typically either having bad eating habits but the difference depending on amount of food and metabolism more than dietary content.

I am actually pretty fit physically even though I sit in front of the computer all the time and I have bad eating habits -- I skip meals all the time. But I used to always run around when I was younger and until about 5 years ago (when I was ~14) I was obsessed with my muscles.

What's the point? You're just going to die anyway.

Yeah, seriously, not all the media coming out of the US is gospel for what life is like here.

Use the meters and kilograms. I'm 175cm, 66kg.
Join the world.
Thank you.

Use the feet, inches, and pounds. I'm 5'6", 117 lbs.
The rest of the world can go ahead and use that new inferior system of measurement, but I'm sticking with a system that works.

uh.. if your driving force is finding 'better looking' girls, i think you may have a problem

maybe your past relationships failed not because you're a disgusting weeaboo fatass, but because you merit your gfs on their appearance and not who they are? "average or better" in terms of appearance" - you can find the most gorgeous hot chick and she'll end up having shit for brains and be a bitch.. if that's what you think losing weight will get you maybe you deserve it hmmm..

>>... you merit your gfs on their appearance and not who they are ... and she'll end up having shit for brains and be a bitch ...

Wait, so you're saying it's bad for the original poster to judge girls on one aspect (appearance), but then you go and show that you judge them yourself on other aspects (intelligence and personality). Why is it okay for you to do it?

This makes it seem like you have some sort of superiority complex and won't associate with people that are deemed "beneath" your mental state.

My girlfriend is cute and smart and she's an anime faggot like me

The other night she and I were cuddling in bed and she started humping me and whispering "oniichan oniichan" and that turned me the fuck on

so I called her "oneechan" and then she stopped and looked at me and I said "what is it" to which she replied "I always wanted a twin brother so we could fuck all the time" (she's an only child and all I have is a younger brother)

so all night long we were humping and calling each other oniichan and oneechan and I came in my underwear and we were pretending we were brother and sister trying to sexually please each other without having sex and it was fucking hot

If you are to eat an unvaried diet for a month you will get sick. Supersize Me chose McDonalds because it's a big fast food chain and it's cool to say McDonalds sucks. It just wouldn't have been as popular had it been called ``May I have a carrot side salad with my boiled carrots?'' (although I would certainly pay to see that movie).

I'm not overweight and never have been, but I'd never exercised regularly until recently. A few months ago I decided to exercise every day. It's just a simple workout routine that requires about 20 minutes, one person, and a small amount of floor space. I started feeling much fitter after a few weeks. It feels really good to exercise every day; I'd strongly recommend it.

Laziness is very tough to overcome.....

Well, it can either be really tough or really easy. You'd be suprised how easy it is to get up and DO something. It takes just a little bit of willpower. When you tell yourself you should do something (work out, get a job, clean your room, etc.), instead of just telling yourself you should do it but then go right back to surfing the web, get up and DO IT. Just do it. That's all there really is to it. I know it feels like it's hard, but really the only thing stopping you is you. Be hard on yourself. When you think to yourself, "I really need to clean this place up..." continue to think to yourself, "So what am I waiting for?" This is what I think whenever my roommates say they will do something. "I'll finish doing the dishes tonight." Why tonight? What are you waiting for? What is this important business you have to attend to? It's not like you have a job hindering you.

Calisthenics. I recommend this because only 3 things are required: you, time, and motivation. Working against your own body weight is likely to be a big challenge in the beginning, but as your strength increases, your ability to perform the exercises will increase even more. Just do the standard things like jumping jacks, push-ups, crunches, etc. I usually do these things as a warm-up for running. Running is awesome for burning calories, but at 300 lbs, it could be injurious. Walking a good distance at a brisk pace would be a good idea. Find a good route- a place that you enjoy being at. It really helps on the motivation end if you enjoy it- otherwise it's just a chore.

started going to the gym regularly last january, friend invited me. now i go and he'S disappeared ( ̄ー ̄;?? but anyway, i like the indoor rock wall at the gym. i could go to a gym nearer where i live, but the one i go to has a rock wall, so i go there.

my previous (semi)regular work out was aikido, but this was during uni days, and now i have no time to go the the morning training, 7:30am, at the dojo, everyday except sundays. i winged it for 5 years, hahaha!

but having some sort of excerise is really good, especially if its something you enjoy doing, i.e. aikido, rock climbing

Rock walls, huh! I've never seen them in a gym (though I haven't been to many gyms), sounds fun!

Do more, eat less. Since moving out of my parent's house in June, I've started eating better and jogging at a local track 2-3 times a week. I've lost about 25 pounds so far. It's not that hard. Just getting the positive habits engrained, is all.
